Skar is fancying right now, so I’m going to give you the general lowdown on fandom opinion on the EqG movies.
 
EqG 1: Shit with some charming moments. Skippable if not for some essential backstory for the next two.
 
EqG 2: Fan favorite. Still flawed. Most of the fandom thinks of it like candy; not much substance, but boy does it taste good! You WILL fall in love with Sunset Shimmer.
 
EqG 3: Also kinda shit, but it has Human Twilight, so all is forgiven!

Wait, you don’t mind watching the EqG movies? Most earlier bronies (I know you’re one, because of the “The End Was not the End” badge) seem to hate it, but I could be wrong.
 
No, it’s just that the faux-bronies shout very lound, best to not listen to them.  
I found eqg1 to be a little stereotyped, but RR was pretty much epicness in 1080

Honestly, only a handful of episodes are important for the overall storyline. You can just watch the two parters and Magical Mystery Cure and be caught up. Then save the slice of life and little adventure episodes for later.
