Chief Zecora was managing her post at the Everfree village when suddenly…(Swarms of changelings came in!)
Desperate to protect her home, Zecora called out for a team of under-trained, poorly equipped pony soldiers into battle; sadly, victory would not be theirs
Chief Zecora and her noble friends were captured, imprisoned, briefly pardoned, imprisoned again aaaannnnd killed
The death of Zecora left us defenseless
Without them, Queen Chrysalis laid waste to our refugee camps by destroying the Hoover Dam; it was a crushing defeat
Sigh, if only Zecora had been there to defend us against Chrysalis; I guess you can’t change the past
What I don’t get is when people talk about her power levels. They mention she only won because she stole energy like it’s a bad thing, that she is somehow weaker because of it. I’m sorry being able to steal power is somehow not something to be considered in the equation? That is an awesome power, who knows how high she can grow her power.
In fact in this scene she has to be unbelievably powerful now that she controls all the magic in Equestria. No wonder she is confident.
@Equum Amici
Also gives an excuse to engage in huge nerd debates over her capacities as a leader. Don’t know how many times I’ve had discussions about Chrysalis’ plans, but it was fun every time I did.

It’s weird how Chrysalis’ actions can be viewed as her being a genius master planner, or a lucky dumbass that bumbles her way through the invasion.
Personally I’m in the first camp, and have a lot of theories explaining all she did, but in the end it’s all up to personal interpretation.
Actually her real plan was to weaken Shining Armor until her army broke through the shield. Her “boasting” after Twilight revealed her was nothing more than a ploy to buy time since her army was only moments away from cracking the shield. Quite a clever bit of improve, shame it didn’t work.
Of course in this timeline without Twilight to reveal the deception Celestia would be swarmed with changeling soldiers and betrayed at a critical moment by Chrysalis whom she thought was Princess Cadance.
Say what you will, Chrysalis is a good strategist, she just needs to learn to better secure prisoners.
@Background Pony #13F0
If you mean when she says “…his love was even stronger than I thought, consuming it made me even stronger than Celestia” (pretty sure that’s the quote), then I see where you are coming from. But I don’t really interpret it the same way though. Her plan worked, better than she thought yes, but it was still thanks to her plan that she won.
It’s not the same thing as a magical Mcguffin saving the day out of left field. And yes, I put the Elements of Harmony and the Rainbow Power on the same level of Mcguffiness.
@armadiloeater
……. noooo she admits that she won by a fluke, chrysalis.
also the alicorn of love releasing a pulse of love energy created from the emotional connection she has with her lover….
its basically similar to the friendship magic more or less. though on a lesser scale.
@Outcast’s Redeemer
it isn’t. completely isn’t in fact. Think about it. If this was a legitimate reality where the mane six did not get together, fluttershy and pinkie would not have those marks, and more so Chrysalis wouldn’t be there. Cause there is no logical way she could overcome nightmare moon. Nightmare moon’s reign would remove most of the things that even allowed her victory over celestia, hwom she admits was a luck based event. And Nightmare moon is more powerful and more aggressive than Celestia.
Zecora herself said it. They are not supposed to exist. The flaws in the timelines seem to strongly imply that these timelines were unsable. Like they just started rather than developing to this point. The only timeline that was fully logical was, obviously, the nightmare one, and even then we had rarity with a gem cutie mark.
So these realities ceased to be when Twilight returned. In fact every time that happens we see nothing more of that world and are immediately in the past once more.
@Background Pony #C657
You could maybe argue that point in the original timeline (and I still would not agree on everything you said) but what do we know of this timeline? She won. That’s all we know. Somehow she conquered all of Equestria, and to do that she had to get rid of Celestia.
Also the only real documented fluke in the Royal Wedding episode was the way Chrysalis was defeated. Random Love Genkidama my ass.
@DragonRanger
Unless this is the infinite reality theory in motion and not the back to the future scenario. Then all the alternate realities are still in motion. It just so happens that Twilight was forced to view seven of them. So if that is the case… They are changing food.
@armadiloeater
why does everyone forget that her defeat of celestia had a more than copious amount of luck to it, also ignorance?
She clearly did not think she could beat celestia, she was sczred shitless and surprised. That also helped because had chrysalis known about her power, let’s face it, she woulda boasted…… And celestia would use superior magical prowess to defeat her.
So yeah, chrysalis is dangerous, but her victory over celestia is a documented fluke.
