Yeah, it did suck. Like the season finale when she lost water bending. Not only did she get it back immediately, but also full spirit powers. That next season would have been far better if it was about her struggling not being able to Water bend, and learning the sprite world stuff, in stead “Welp you got it all back and more.” Aang had to learn all that shit, Hell how long did it take before he mastered every bending? Korra automatically knew all but air and that only took an episode or 2.
 
I’m probably going to be in the minority here, but I think Korra rates pretty high on the Mary Sue spectrum.

Well come on, let’s be fair here. I may not agree entirely with all his points, but I also don’t think he’s entirely wrong either. For one thing, he’s absolutely correct that it can take people time to discover who or what they are. Some people (of course) will know right away from the moment they first start developing feelings towards others, and never change from that. Yet there are plenty of others out there who will spend years feeling “off” from what they are expected to be, and don’t figure out why until much later in life. And for those people in the latter category, behaving (in the interim) in a way that might conflict with their later identification does not somehow invalidate what they are. To kind of borrow his example, if Rainbow Dash were to date a few stallions, and later announce she was a lesbian, it would only be indicative of the process she took to self discovery. There is no obligation for her to immediately act like a gay stereotype because of what she might be any more than there is for us to assume she’s gay because of her association with rainbows and traditionally masculine interests.
 
That said, I still fall back on a comment I made at the onset of this entire situation, which was that I would prefer they leave that unaddressed, because the “tomboyish girl is a lesbian” cliché appears far too often in fiction already.

He doesn’t always come across the best on twitter, to be honest. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’ve defended the guy before and I’ll likely do so again, but in any written medium with limited character space there’s not always a lot you can do to convey tone, and once you’ve become known as kind of a reactionary type it’s a lot harder to win over fan opinion.

Yeah, exactly. I’ve honestly never cared much about relationships myself, but I know people have some very strong opinions on them and discussing them back and forth via text with no ability to convey any strong emotion aside from anger very well does not set this up as a great conversation.

Also the word “queer” exists as a misguided attempt to “reclaim” an insulting slur (see “dyke”, “nigga”.)
 
Queer literally means strange and has a heavily negative connotation. Maybe “deviant” or “profane” would be a better synonym.

While I do have strong feelings about shipping/which ponies make good friends. And I also have strong feelings about LGBT issues. I’m not sure what hes doing on Twitter is the best way to go about discussing them.

Looks like Jeremy Whitley is now doing some damage control.  
He knows that he screwed up big time and he let this whole thing got way out of hand but it’s sad that he’s using excuses for his own shortcomings.

They technically could, there aren’t any laws in the US to stop them as far as I’m aware. However companies are afraid of backlash from people. Somewhat in the US but mostly from places like Russia and China ect. I mean Steven Universe couldn’t get away with the dance scene between Rose and Pearl in the UK so there are still issues even there.

The problem is that society’s arbitrary insistence on forcing every element of life to center around the Internet, which is by design a medium that forces exclusion and faction wars, feminists / LGBT’s / whathaveyou are more interested in claiming prestigious titles, forming cliques, and looking less wrong than everybody else than in accepting truths or solving problems
