Um, vore was already canon from when the chimera threatened to turn Apple Bloom into a ‘filly fillet’. I’d say that’s as close to “I’m going to gut you and gnaw on your corpse” as they can get in the show.

I kind of have to agree with @background pony Number 17. This was a case of if they don’t come back for me I might as well be dead. It’s the equivalent to someone cutting the wrist while hoping someone will care enough to find them before the bleed out. This episode was kind of dark.

Trixie pretty much telegraphed her expectation that the trick would fail–with fatal consequences for her–and that she didn’t really care if it did. The really disturbing thing was this took place in front of an entire live audience of ponies and NOT ONE caught on to the fact that Trixie was staging her suicide right in front of them.

In fairness, the beasts seems tamed, so yeah

It’s a continuum. It’s seen a lot for example in counseling transgender veterans. They tend to be overrepresented among special forces. A lot of them went into the military in the first place in desperation to “make a man out of them.” And while the preferred goal was “make themselves properly male,” dying in the attempt was still preferable to going on living as they were. But it wasn’t suicide; they hoped for an actual resolution.

I still think she was counting on starlight to help her or even one of the others if her plan didn’t work.

Aaaand if Starlight didn’t come through for her, Trixie was gonna die. Which was her intention, because if Starlight rejected her, if Trixie really and truly couldn’t make a friend, she was done.
 
A lot of suicide attempts are cries for help, putting one’s self in a situation one could only survive with the intervention of a loved one.

But the way she was talking,and the fact that she pretty much knew that Starlight might not show up, and the fact that if that was the case, she wouldn’ve freaked out

You know, if this really is attempting suicide, Trixie failed. I think it’s more “not caring at that point if it kills her.”

The Latin word that vore comes from means “to devour”, so eating basically is vore.

Suicide was not what was happening she was counting on Starlight to save her basically to force her hoof and Twilight and Fluttershy were there she was in no danger.
