Sunset, trixie and (sigh) starlight are perfect for a spinoff together.  
I don’t really care much for the starswirl connection but these 6 look good together and I can see them functioning well as an alternate mane 6.

Trixie has plenty of talent, and she’s actually pretty great at magic. They didn’t make her stupidly overpowered though, which is a good thing. It’s too bad, the writers really wasted potential on her. Now the only important magic characters are so OP that’s it’s just plain dumb. Starlight wasn’t even implied to be ultra powerful at first, the writers just pulled that out of their ass.

In the same sense that it’s theoretically possible to win the lottery twice in a row. It’s not very likely though.  
Like I said, isolated populations can skew the chances somewhat, but the more generations there are the more those two possibilities completely dominate the probability space.
