What!? She never was! The Princess during my time at the academy was the nicest pony that I knew. She was never strict, and was always there when I needed help with my studies.
I’m just one to respect people with authority… And I guess I overreact sometimes.. Maybe a little too much..
Seriously, Twilight. One fuck up from you, and she’ll either banish you, throw you in a dungeon, or make you repeat kindergarten? It sometimes makes me think that Celestia was either very strict or outright abusive to Twilight in the early years of their relationship.
And as for tragic backstory… Celestia is the worst sister alive and as a result of being weak-willed, lacked the necessary strength to use the Elements properly and accidentally instead banished her sister to an icy, horrible prison. She was alone for a millenia and was ruled by guilt and an obsession with creating a utopia, so that the same mistakes wouldn’t be repeated again.
One thing I noticed is that the writers have apparently dropped Celestia’s prankster side. So we’re basically back to “she’s nice I guess” and “Twilight is terrified of her for some reason.”
At the gala “YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE ME!” I have thing for yanderes.

She was totally flirting in that scene, and it went right over their heads because they refuse to see her as anything but their flawless, virginal white goddess.
I have a hard time getting close to people or expressing myself in general.
I love Fluttershy, because she basically shows me how you can be timid, but still stand up to yourself or to those whom you care about when it really matters. This may sound stupid and cheesy to most, but she kind of inspires me to overcome my own insecurities.
