The way I can see this happening is thus; Pinkie is always the exception. Whatever anyone expects of her, she subverts it. Ergo, since everyone expects her to violate the expectation of being straight, she subverts that expectation. Simple logic really.

Rarity as pan.  
( I can see this but for me I’d think bi.I always see her as finding sex fun but also useful as a tool to get up in the world. Not necessarily a whore but not above using her own body to get what she wants from the weak willed.
 
Twi as bi.( now this one is on the fence for me. I feel season one twi being hetero and a virgin to boot. But I feel our wise princess twi would have some experience in the name of science and probably decided to be bi for some logic based reason.
 
Rainbow as ase( now this is the one that takes me aback a bit. I could see rd as any sexuality but. And being avarice as hell. So an rd with no interest I sex was something I never thought I’d see. I prefer bi or homo just so I can ship her with all the mares.
 
Flutter as dime biromantic ( right on the money actually.
 
Pinkie pie as straight ( now this one is as wild to me as rd being ase pinkie the fun loving party pony that makes everyone feel Happy. Even before I saw the r34 I thought pink horse was pan and would bang anything with a pulse. And I just love shipping her with everyone usually at the same time so I’d think she poly too.

Discussions about the culture war would be better in the general discussion forum, than in the comments thread on an image where an artist is just expressing their own personal headcanon. I hope one of you will create such a thread, because I would have things to say about that, if we were in an appropriate setting.

I always find it interesting to see other people’s orientation headcanons. Probably because the subject comes up so infrequently on the show itself that there’s likely an argument to be made for any orientation people care to assign. Though I will admit that it is a bit novel to see Rainbow not depicted as the token lesbian for a change. I’ll also admit that this may be the first time I’ve heard of a demisexual/biromantic, so that’s kind of interesting. And I can’t tell if Rarity as a pansexual surprises me or not, given that certain groups in the fandom think she’s a depraved sex fiend that would do anything that moves, while some others imagine her as the only one still virginally pure. I always tend to think of her as simply heterosexual (based on what the show has depicted), but seeing as how her being pansexual would mean I’d have a shot at romancing the heck out of her, I’m willing to accept that too.
 
Of course that’s probably a selfish reason to agree with something, but she’s my favorite and, hey, a guy can dream, right?

I can easely explain what is going on in this thread and any other similar!  
The main reason why arts like thise are hated is because people ‘like these’ are insecure about their own opinion.  
They fear that opinion of others will owerpower their own, so they bash it with the mouth full of foam.

Don’t know why this turned into such a shitshow or assumption that the artist is using the characters as mouthpieces.
 
I don’t necessarily agree with some of the sexuality identifications (For one, I’d figure that Applejack would be bisexual or Heterosexual, Rarity would be Heterosexual, Pinkie would be pansexual and Rainbow would either be bisexual or a Lesbian like Applejack is in this pic.).
 
But this is the artist’s mere headcanon. Not a mouthpiece or anything.
 
Besides, even if it was there is no indication that this is a mouthpiece. I’ve seen headcanons of Rainbow being a dyke.

This isn’t a mouthpiece - it’s just the artist’s interpretation. Artists are free to put whatever interpretation they wish on the characters. Filter this image and stop trying to turn it into your own personal soapbox.

That’s such a gross misinpretation of what’s going on it’s not even funny anymore.  
Look, raising awareness about LGBT is a good thing, although it shouldn’t even be necessary, and at this point it’s already kind of circlejerky, because people’s minds are made up, you aren’t going to convince any die hard conservatives by having pride parades, drawing pictures and changing the Google theme, so you’re just doing it for the pat on the back from the community that already supports you to begin with.
 
But if you start dragging fictional characters into it, you’re stooping lower than political cartoonists, which technically shouldn’t even be possible.  
Let’s look at some more or less common examples of MLP:FIM mouthpiece art:

Pony: “You can be friends with anyone, regardless of your differences!”
 
Acceptable, it’s one of the core values of the show and indisputably in character for most of the main cast.  
It’s mostly just restating what the characters have said on several occasions themselves, so it barely qualifies as a mouthpiece regardless of the context of use.

Pony: “Meat is murder!”
 
Questionable, entering the self-serving territory. The characters are for the most part vegetarians/prey animals so it’s a sentiment that might not be such a stretch for them, but they’re also friends with creatures that are presumably omni or carnivorous and don’t seem to be overly bothered by the prospect.

Pony: “I’m stepping up to represent a sexuality assigned to me on a completely arbitrary basis by the artist!”
 
Unacceptable. No factual relevance to the vast majority of FIM characters can be found by any stretch of imagination, making this a pure mouthpiece. It’s like using children or puppies to promote your ideas, except more shameless because puppies and children aren’t anyone’s brainchildren. “B-But I drew it simply because I like ponies!” - Yeah, that’s exactly the reason you should have left them out of this.

Pony: “(Insert politician here) is a horrible/great person and no one/everyone should vote for them!”
 
Crossed the pure human trash event horizon. While you could argue the characters might be opposed/supportive to someone’s ideas and values, you’ve just crawled into the artist integrity garbage can, then lit it on fire.

It’s the beginning of Pride Month, and the commemoration of the Stonewall riots, which for some are very important events.
 
But some people do not believe others should be allowed to celebrate or commemorate those things.
 
So if an artist takes the opportunity to commemorate coming out to their mother, some feel that it’s an opportunity to troll or to attack others. And suddenly being asked to filter things that trigger them is “denying them their rights”.
 
It’s a charged environment, and one or two random images become the “battlegrounds”.
 
This beautiful image just happened to be one of the random images where people decided to “take a stand for their right to not like things and to make others aware that they don’t like it” - as crazy as that sounds.

Case in point - two comments in the last 30 days, and one of them was to let people know that they are “bugged to no end” by something they could just filter and ignore.

My headcanon is that they all have zero interest in romance except Rarity, because that’s all the show has demonstrated. Anything else bugs me to no end.
