If you always try to attack a character, there always be people who will try to defend him/her, whatever their arguments are and whatever the character is (not only Starlight).

Pretty much. I’m not sure Trixie has exactly ‘accepted her limitations’, given a half season ago she was sassing Discord.

i’m also hoping timber gets a mention at least in the show.

Mlp:fim has become a very low tension show even in episodes where there should be some tension. The show is sort of spineless in long term aspects.

So you don’t think EQG Trixie and FIM Trixie will diverge character development wise in the slightest despite one beginning to accept her limitations while being reduced to Starlight’s Sidekick and the other still being pure undiluted Trixie with a whole starlight free series in front of her?

Personally I don’t think tactical nukes could dent Trixie’s self perception, so I’m pretty sure they’re exactly the same. She’s learned valuable lessons three times at my counting, and at the end of each episode she’s made a point of reminding those around her that she’s learned absolutely nothing.

I really wanna see how EQG Trixie will develop without a starlight around. That’s my main draw to check out the EQG series.

well yeah, that to be expected of movies that are only just about an hour long. you need to pick something to focus on otherwise you risk spreading your movie way too thin in places it really shouldn’t, it’s way i wished they either romance subplots unless they’re actully going to develop it.

To be honest, the EqG characters seem to be more fixed than in the main show. In that Rainbow Dash has become a Wonderbolt, Rarity has her fashion empire, Twilight is conducting interspecies diplomacy and Pinkie and Spike are now ambassadors, Twilight’s just about to open her own school…
 
Even those who love EqG have admitted that the remain 5 are rather underdeveloped, with only Sunset and (maybe) Sci-Twi being great characters. Personally I think Rainbow Dash, Applejack and Rarity are very well done too, but none of them have developed as such.

Starlight is nothing like Celestia. I feel a little miffed that you compare the two.
 
I hate how you Starlight fanatics try so freaking hard to defend her. All you do is talk about the good and barely, if ever, slightly mention that she may or may not have done some bad or stupid things. And when someone brings up a valid point like how she doesn’t seem to learn her lessons, you guys will just try to ignore those, like those points and things don’t exist.
 
And don’t lie to me and say that if you met someone in real life who seems to never learn similar basic lessons, that you would completely 100% ignore that about them. If they did things with a disregard for others all the time, you’d be getting on their case about after like the 5th or 6th time.
 
And don’t try to turn this into the beating around the bush crap where you just talk about how terrible the Mane 6 are. That kind of thing only makes you look desperate.

She’s more of a competant AND relatable red ranger then an unrelatable Zordon like Celestia.
 
The stories are actually really easy to pull off, but not for the mlp:fim setting of constant stasis with the characters.
 
They’ve banked on twilight and starlight to have less then average strength of character so they can keep the formula almost unchanged for 7 entire seasons. EGG isnt held back by that limitation, so Sunset and the other charachters we see grow.

Oh yeah, there’s definitely stories out there. Still I sympathise with the writers, as they’re not quite as easy to pull off.
 
It’s another way in which she’s like an mini Celestia, you walk a fine line between giving her legitimate conflict and tarnishing her lustre.

I actually think Sunset is capable of driving an interesting plot, the writers are just too lazy to do anything with her.

For the record, I actually like this. Twilight is far more interesting when she’s flawed and dorky, Starlight is great at believably creating conflict, and this is her huge advantage over Sunset.
 
Sunset’s very rapid and full on reformation made her look very cool and inspiring, but she’s dramatically inert now. Any internal conflict seems forced, she’s a natural leader, and there’s very few situations she doesn’t feel capable of handling.
 
Twilight and Starlight might be incompetent, but I find them much more capable of driving an interesting plot.

I will once again note, that while still a bit of a wimp, Thorax is far more responsible and competent than any of the main cast.

You’ve already been given solid counter arguments from me and others to everything you just said sans your last two sentences MANY times, so since I have no interest in convincing you in particular about anything, we’ll just have to agree to disagree. I’m not a masochist, and it’s been done to death.
 
As for your last two sentences, I think we can finally agree on that mindset. If those last two sentences were your honest feelings, then we have nothing important to disagree about. :)
