Best I can tell about watermelons, it’s because recently freed slaves commonly grew them and they became a symbol of freedom and self-sufficency. Then the racist pieces of shyay behind mistrel shows got ahold of it and turned it into a symbol of laziness and stupidity. Fun fact: studies show that black people eat slightly less watermelon than the national average. Go figure.
Fried chicken seems to go back to a specific point. A scene in Birth of a Nation (and to those who are too lazy to click the link, that’s a film made by and glorifying the KKK) where a black man is shown eating fried chicken in a legislative hall to show the dangers of letting black people vote.
@Minus
you mean replying to me when the term “racist” and “racism” are the wrong terms to use?
his comparison to a tree would have been actual racism since the tree isn’t human, as much as a obvious joke that it also was.
@British-Heavy-Metal-Dude
First you ignore that this is obviously a racist joke with intent. The stereotype probably isn’t one you’re used to as it is an American only thing, and even then probably more specific than that. It’s also outdated as heck. But is is trying to be racist… Or you know, lolracist. Your comparison to a tree was nonsense.
And now you’re trying to talk about politics? Stop that now. This isn’t your chance to start drama.
@Damaged
That is a better one. I’m shocked I’ve only just seen this joke today.
@mbeeston
Yeah. Tell that to today’s lefties and current generation. I’m sure you will be impressed by their listening skills when they merely scream “Racist” as loud and as quickly as they can lol
@British-Heavy-Metal-Dude
least it would actually count as “racism” since trees aren’t human.
also how would that work, tree also breath in the carbon dioxide we breath out.
@Revenant Wings
>Mini Watermelons
You mean scams? I’d rather buy a honeydew for that price. If I want watermelon, I’m literally talking about eating ALL of a large watermelon.
@British-Heavy-Metal-Dude
It’s a bunch of stereotypes. However, I can confirm that these stereotypes APPEAR true. What people often lack in context is, everyone kinda buys this stuff.
Except friend chicken. I don’t buy fried chicken at the store. I want chicken strips.
Also, where the hell do you live that a good watermelon is $2? Seriously. I go to Wal-Mart and the large watermelons are about $8 average. Usually 50 or 75 cents a pound.
