Anyway, what really happened was that Ponibooru did indeed have some issues with moderation (namely their lack thereof), but the biggest issue was performance. The engine they were using (Shimmie, I believe) was not really optimized to handle the kinda traffic Ponibooru got, so the site would frequently crash and go down, and loading times in excess of a full minute were not uncommon when it was up.Clover created “Booru-on-Rails” mostly as a proof of concept of a highly scalable Ruby-on-Rails based Booru engine, designed to handle the kinda load Ponibooru was seeing. The original intent was that the code would be offered to Ponibooru to use. However, they did not want the code. Clover almost shutdown the Booru-on-Rails test site (Derpibooru), but The Smiling Pony decided to keep it running mostly as his personal Trixie picture archive (seriously).Ponibooru contacted Clover and TSP later letting them know that they were gonna shut down in a few months, and then decided to go read-only the very next day, sending a huge influx of Traffic to Derpibooru, which was then running on a cheap Linode virtual server. It had a really rough first few days, but things stabilized quickly enough and the rest is known history.Also, the “initial commit” which signified the creation of the site’s code was on December 18th, 2011. And it’s my understanding that there were a few test instances that were created and destroyed before the “permanent” instance of Derpibooru was launched on January 2nd, 2012.

So I heard about an upcoming episode. It’s another bad episode in which the mentally-deranged Glimmer gets butthurt about her boyfriend spending time with other girls, so in typical psychotic bitch fashion, she decides she deserves to have him and have her wants satisfied more than he deserves agency. So she tries a goddamn age-regression spell on the guy. And she gets away with this, instead of going to Tartarus, or following Applejack behind her barn.
