They did give Scootaloo lesbian aunts in one of the books so I’m thinking you may unfortunately have a point at them deliberately making it ambigious due to the show getting more attention.

In the final episodes, they should make it sneaky. Have Bon Bon propose to Lyra or vice versa. But have it hidden in the background.

Hasbro’s plausible deniability kinda falls into that trap as much as anything else - it’s too noncommittal for me to see it as proper representation, though I’m hardly an authority on the matter. I don’t blame anyone for not seeing it, especially if they’re already opposed to shipping on principle.

Oh, I’m not saying Hasbro is against it. I’m just saying the company would rather not lose money in certain markets, so they’re not willing to go there yet. Maybe later they will, but right now they seem pretty clearly on the “not gonna risk it” side.

With this, there is hope for this ambiguous (but cmon it’s clearly canon) relationship to be expanded in the comics, which are also aimed at a more mature audience. Of course, this wont end people saying “it’s not really canon until they are shown in the series to be having full on sex.”  
But There is hope of seeing it confirmed in words in other media. But what we’ve got so far for me at least, it enough as far as evidence goes. I do enjoy seeing them constantly pop up though, and hope to see more proof come in.
 
As for these comments saying “It’s okay to see their relationship however you want, as a couple or just friends.” well, not really. That’s kinda massively awful to view a gay couple as “just good friends” as that’s actually a reality they often live. Lesbians being called good friends is a painfully common thing heard from those who are so hateful towards the idea that they’d prefer to pretend it’s not real. And that’s very hurtful to say, that someone’s relationship isn’t real.
 
Though I trust Hasbro never intended that and meant to do quite the opposite. I’ll still take what I can get, and not focus on the unfortunate implications. They’ve given us a gay couple. Even in this awkward way, that’s still brave. But the fandom really do need to accept it for what it is, and not be so literal minded that they’re falling for the trick Hasbro are using to avoid getting in trouble in certain countries. They’re canon gay. And that’s lovely.

Like I said it’s not a perfect comparison different kind of franchise different media and all.  
I’m just saying is you can’t say Hasbro would be against same sex couples when they’ve been given a thumbs up in what is arguably their biggest IP.

Yeah, comics aren’t going to draw as much attention as a TV show. And that also assumes this comic was even available (especially with the dialogue unedited) in said countries.

I love the fact that scenes like this exist. And to think they were originally just placed next to each other for color balance reasosn.

Now granted that’s a different franchise aimed at a different audience and in a comic which is usually seen as being little more for mature audiences but my point is the argument Hasbro wouldn’t allow same sex couples because it might upset some countries and negatively effect their business seems like bull to me since it happened with one of their biggest IPs and from what I heard the were quite supportive of it.
