I mean Pinkie and Maud left to find friends and lovers in Ponyville,so it’s not anyone’s fault that Limestone and Marble prefer to waste their youth on a rock farm until they grow old. Marble and Limestone are so much desperate of social interactions with ponies, that Limestone create a tulpa from a boulder and Marble develop a crush and probably dreams about wedding on the only stallion that visited her farm and her distant cousin. It’s just sad.

Why would they address it? It was never meant to be a thing in the story. Its just a joke made by animators/storyboard artist and a nod to continuity.
