Mane6 won’t get boyfriends and that was already confirmed by Big Jim, however Jim was confronted with the question why Big Mac or Maud get a love interest while Discord is friendzoned with Fluttershy and he said that its harder to convince Hasbro to canonize a mane6 character relationship than side characters and that it was frustrating, so they did planned initially to make Discoshy canon in the story. Lets not fool ourselves, when Discord saved Fluttershy from changeling and hugged her, she was blushing in romantic sense. This wasnt the first time she hugged him in public and the impression of entire brony community after this scene was that it was a romantic blush. Only antishippers and dislestia fans were denying it. I think you just dont like their difference in species and age which make you think that it cannot be anything different than platonic. Just make a simple test to check if it just visual bias. Watch all Discord episode and imagine him looking like Doctor Whooves or any younger pony (he turned to one in Twilight Kingdom when tricking Tirek) and you woudn’t escape the thought the there is shipping in bound. Same if you imagine Bulk Biceps in Equestria Girls as a 40 year old man, you would always think that he is a father of Derpy in all of those “shipping scenes” in the background. But THere is a diference between how Fluttershy treat her brothers/parents, different way she treat platonic friends like Bulk Biceps or Tree Hugger different way she treat her close friends like Dash or Pinkie and different way she treat Discord. Same with Discord, different way he treat mane6, different way he treat Spike and Big Mac and another way he treat Fluttershy.

A character blushing doesn’t always symbolize romantic feelings. Take for example how much the character “Aggressive Retsuko” blushes. (Heck, she even does it when she’s drunk.)  
Fluttershy’s blushed at other times too in fron of her other friends, and such, or when she’s embarrassed, it’s just her shy nature.
 
I haven’t really read the IDW comics to really get a good idea how much they ‘ship tease them, but from what I’ve seen in the show their relationship can still be interpreted as platonic. Even if they are teasing fans a bit, I don’t think they’re ever going to become a canon couple.  
And honestly, as I stated already that’d honestly be rather weird, even for this show.
 
Plus, Lauren Faust actually didn’t want to give the Mane 6 (including Fluttershy) boyfriends, (to avoid that girly cartoon show cliché probably) or any romantic partners whatever, and it seems like the show staff have followed that mandate for the most part.

So its really hard to label them as “just platonic friends” because we know how platonic friendship is and Discord is much more intimate with Fluttershy. Caressing faces, blushing, talking about her more than any other pony, going out of the way in Best Gift Ever or Make New friend but keep Discord just for her its already weird. People argue that he is either very CLOSE or they he treat her like mother. This are probably closer to truth although i think its more like Discord is too clueless or too proud to really admit romantic interest. He could have simply told Spike that he is just friends with Fluttershy in Break up Breakdown and end all specualtions but instead started to pretty much changing the subject on how much he likes tea when it is obvious to normal viewer how he didn’t care about the tea in Discordant Harmony and he pretty much just changes the subject.

Crackship is a ridciulous ship that has nothing to do with canon, crossovers like SonicxDash or out of the blue like SombraxFluttershy would be conisdered crackship.
 
Discoshy not only is not a crackship, but unlike LyraBon or BulkDerpy, it was actually intentionall shipped by show staff and not just animators. Animators added some like heart shaped crumbs in Discordant Harmony or Fluttershy blushing when Discord rescued her in Season 6 finale. But even writers of comics and FiM episodes added intentional teasing. Big Jim said they added intentionally references to Beauty and Beast in S9 premiere, Nick Confaloned added to the script that Spike would tease Discord over Fluttershy a romantic interest on valentine day, comic writers made characters like Baast and Cosmos suspecting that Fluttershy is his girlfriend. In his Luna/Discord comic he was dreaming about working in an office while Celestia is being his boss and CMC and Fluttershy are his wife and kids. Im really suprised you woudn’t see this ship as very obvious because if Discord was a pony or Fluttershy was repalced with Celestia, there would be no doubt about it that there is romantic interest.

It depends on what you consider “shipping fuel.” Teaparties, being jealous of another friend, (that does happen with platonic relationships too) being nervous about them coming over, and such don’t really come off as solely romantic moments frankly to me.
 
I mean, do people think that time he turned her into a giant orange was a “romantic” gesture? No offense, I just think fans are looking too deeply into things. I mean, it’s fine if fans wanna ‘ship it, but I just don’t see it being canon, or somehow working in the long run.
 
I have a friend who ‘ships it, but in a “crack ‘ship” sense, so she told me she doesn’t take it that seriously, or argues that it’s canon like some do.

Whether one ships it or not, it’s undeniable that Fluttercord has a lot of shipping fuel in the show, compared to some other ships that exist.  
One has to be blind to not see that much at least - considering it shipping or not is an entirely different question, but the fuel is there.

Though, I’m still kinda surprised so many fans insist the crack’ship DiscoShy, (admittedly a clever ’ship name) is canon.  
They just seem like good friends to me, and frankly ‘shipping a common mortal quadruped pony, with a bipedal, immortal mix-and-match “spirit of chaos” seems odd to me.  
It’d be like ’shipping Tirek with Trixie. (Watch, somebody will draw that now just to tease me. lol…)

Technically they are as much canon as Discord and Fluttershy in FiM canon but you can still interpret them as friends, lovers or even siblings since all of their actions would fit all of the above
