I’d say she had several good moments. Especially considering it was her who ultimately freed the others from their captivity

What it did show was that Starlight is blatantly the superior warrior compared to Chrysalis.  
She actually knows how to fight a stronger opponent, whereas Chrysalis has never won a fight without a power advantage and/or taking them off-guard, and can’t deal with finesse or trickery very well.
 
It would not have been a fight if Chrysalis had a comparable level of power when fighting Starlight. It would’ve been a massacre.
 
Goes to show how Chrysalis seems like she just isn’t as smart or competent as she thinks she is, even if she isn’t unintelligent, and the ego doesn’t help.

She had one good moment in the finale which was then immediately undone and that’s absolutely criminal

One of my favorite characters in the show for sure. Seriously great moments with her in the finale.

Starlight is a brilliantly written character who made the show even better.
 
 
If you want a Mary Sue, look at Sunset Shimmer.

Couldn’t be any father from the truth. Definitely the worst written Mary Sue, and one of the biggest reasons why so many abandoned ship from the series between season 6 and 9.
