What it did show was that Starlight is blatantly the superior warrior compared to Chrysalis.
She actually knows how to fight a stronger opponent, whereas Chrysalis has never won a fight without a power advantage and/or taking them off-guard, and can’t deal with finesse or trickery very well.
It would not have been a fight if Chrysalis had a comparable level of power when fighting Starlight. It would’ve been a massacre.
Goes to show how Chrysalis seems like she just isn’t as smart or competent as she thinks she is, even if she isn’t unintelligent, and the ego doesn’t help.

You sir don’t actually know what a Mary sue is, so you should really stop using that term.
Starlight is a brilliantly written character who made the show even better.
If you want a Mary Sue, look at Sunset Shimmer.
