On one hand I think that the fan base is blowing things way out of proportion yet given the existence of teen titans go, Powerpuff Girls 2016 and thundercats roar which have eerie similarities I can kinda understand why a large portion of the fanbase is on edge about this spinoff, still think that things are being blown out of proportion.

I think there’s a substantial difference between a situation where people complained over a design that was almost universally thought to be awful, and a situation where a good portion of the dislike seems to be over how it is vaguely reminiscent of an entirely different show they don’t care for.

It’s sorta sad how essentially nothing about the fandom has changed since, like, 2011~2012. With all the whining about exactly everything, you’d think the fandom would be completely empty by now, but nope. This is just the latest in a loooong series of “unforgivable injustices”, but everyone is so fucking obsessed they’ll never actually leave.

I’m 31. They made the Pony Life a dumb cartoon. Look at Pinkie. Look at that cheap animation. There is no question, this will be really dumb. I’m not a blind fan, I never was one. I don’t care if I don’t get cheap pony, I won’t watch it, because it looks bad and the story telling will be dumb-cartoonish in a high chance. I don’t call it cute just because they have big eyes, it’s a very bad design.  
They want to cut off the bronies which is understandable, there are filthy things in this fandom which is not family friendly at all. Maybe there was role of the latest FIM “obvious hints” that Hasbro choose this line. I guess they wanted to be family friendly and we all know what that means.

Animation is supposed to be judged on two things. Its looks (in this case the “cover” since it presumably is going to be the exact same animation style in the episodes) and its writing. That’s literally it. Does it look good, does it entertain me. If it doesn’t look good, then that’s a pretty damn good reason to not want to watch an animated show.

True fan doesn’t mean dick. Series suffer when you give mediocre material a pass because you’re a “true fan”

I just wanna reiterate how I feel about this post.
 
I don’t like that everyone has been thrown into two groups.  
There’s some of us that just won’t be into it.  
Being called a non-true fan just cause you don’t wanna give something a chance feels kinda shit.  
It makes me feel bad, because I truly love the series, but the new one, based on it’s description and look is not something I’d enjoy.
 
The design style I don’t fancy, but that’s not my biggest issue.  
I’m just not a Slice of Life heavy person.  
The description stated it’s meant to pretty much be Slice of Life oriented only.  
I only enjoyed that kind of thing as a kid.
 
I’m a 22 year old dude right now.  
I no longer enjoy stuff that’s just random slice of life fun.
 
For Friendship is Magic, it always had Slice of Life elements.  
But at the end of the day it was a story driven show.
 
So it may have “been for kids”  
But the story element aspect drew me in and that’s what I fell in love with.
 
To be labeled someone who’s not a true fan, just cause I’ve outgrown what the show is moving to in it’s next iteration.
 
It’s really not right.
