You don’t look at just one thing to determine race.

While I prefer a darker skinned Twilight, insisting that a given character has to be a given ethnicity has always struck me as stupid. About the only thing that you can say for sure is that none of them match human ethnicities or races.
 
Really, humanizations could use more variety, not less. My favorite humanization is still albino Zecora.

I will admit unabashedly that I downvoted because of black Twilight. However, this is not because of inherent racism(or maybe it’s just subconscious and I don’t know it) but because I’ve always found black human Twilight to be wholly illogical and stupid given her in-show stereotype of nerdy sheltered girl. Plus I am a white male and she is my absolute favorite character, so I prefer her to share the same race as I so she appeals to me more. That too is probably subconscious racism but it is what it is I guess; I just really don’t like and can not stand black Twilight. Muslim/Indian Fluttershy is stupid too. I’d filter ‘black Twilight’ but apparently the regular implementation of that tag is not in the fucking cards.
 
Plus making members of the main 6 different races is token diversification anyway.

Against better judgement and the possibility of creating a shit-storm, here’s a possible explanation for black Twilight I came up with a while ago:
 
Black Twilight is a humanization that has the headcanon that PONY Twilight’s skin is black.
 
Yes, like humans, horses and ponies have different skin colors underneath their coats. Unless we have an episode where they shave Twilight bald (CUTIE MARK CRUSADER HAIRDRESSERS!), we have no idea what this skin color is. Horse skin colors come in several varieties including pink, brown and black and cannot always be determined by the coat color alone.
 
This explanation raises some interesting implications, though. Like ponies, zebras have different skin colors. That would mean that, using this logic, some humanized zebras would be white.
 
Now, you may say “Blargle blargle Twilit = azin blargle blargle Zecorba = zebah = balck blargle blargle” to which I would say, wow, your spelling is horrible. Yes, according to my humanization headcanon I would say I agree; however at the end of the day there will always be people with opinions different than yours so you might as well live with it by either ignoring it or by making stupid explanations to quel the voices in your head that tell you to burn them.
