You shouldn’t have specified show then,and that would still be a terrible idea just cause you want the scene above to be seen as lesbian innuendo laden fantasy.
This scene was meant to reference the fandoms idea of them being lovers as well as them being just friends.It the joke that so many shippers have let flow over their heads.
Uhum, this is an episode where the characters had some screentime. They gave stories to the background ponies. Lyra and BonBon got this agent lie BFF story which secret became an issue in their friendship. This is why were there the BFF gestures.

I want all pairings to be well written too, and I get your point, sure. Problem is, there literally is almost no representation in kids’ media at all, even now, so yeah, even something that’s not amazingly written is probably going to do some good (unless it’s terrible, then it may do more harm than good), because it’s going to break barriers and make it OK for other creators to do stuff like that. I personally do think that korrasami was written pretty well, and MUCH better than Korra and Mako, which I could never stand. Does that mean that you have to personally like the pairing? Nope, but you can be supportive without liking a pairing.
