We bother because we know. We know that #hashtag campaigns are not very strong. We know that there is a difference between reality and fantasy. We know that rape is bad. We know a cartoon horse should have no bearing on how we live our lives. We know if you cannot separate the two, you need to seek help. We know that there are bigger forces that lead to the “rape culture” and it’s not jokes; it’s slander, it’s fear, it’s being told it’s your fault that it happened to you. We know censoring material will not change those who cast ill on others because it’s something that has happened for years, way before ponies were even a thing.
 
We bother because we care. We wouldn’t even have this discussion if we didn’t care. /mlp/ even had a straight up talk about the whole ordeal and concluded what so much of us know: rape is bad, but this is not how you prevent it from occurring nor is it how you treat the problem of psychological damage from tragic events. That’s why we say this is stupid. This is why we call out people who claim that we are “rape apologist”. Things are not always black and white. There are those who are just to blind to see the grays.

My experience with Tumblr hasn’t been positive. Being a Doctor Who fan, I’m looking forward to next Doctor. Many girls on Tumblr are claiming to not watch the show anymore because the next doctor isn’t ‘sexy’. Here is my reaction in an image.

That’s the problem with Tumblr’s SJW movement as a whole. Their entire world viewpoint is VERY black and white, us vs. them, you’re either with us or against us, etc. with absolutely no middle ground. It’s actually a good thing the anti-DWM movement is as large as it is: if it was just a few people, PinkyPony’s followers would have already harassed them with death threats and “KILL YOURSELF YOU WASTE OF OXYGEN” over and over. I’ve seen it happen way too often on Tumblr, often over things even more trivial than the removal of a single Ask Pony blog.

The DWM movement has continually and consistently accused everyone that doesn’t support them as being god damn rape apologists. It’s WELL beyond being hyperbolic and into an area of pure vitriolic hatred and blindness.
 
No matter how praise worthy a cause may be, using hatred, insults and this petty viciousness as your very first move is an excellent way to make everyone that didn’t already agree with you turn against you.
