This needs a 50 year old one where Twilight reacts by diving off a cliff onto a bed of sharp rocks all “WHEEEEE” and Celestia grabs her with magic and she’s like “I SAID IMMORTAL, NOT INVINCIBLE YOU DUMB FABRIC-LOVIN’ FILLY!”

As a twenty-year old, this is almost insulting.

That it’s easy to write a cliche “boo hoo I’m never going to die” fanfic when you’re still very young and death isn’t a real concern for you.
 
The older you get, the more you realize how precious life is, and the more you value it.

why do people think angst == maturity? As far I know, whining and crying is the least mature behavior of all.  
Life is to be enjoyed. Unending healthy life (Celestia and Luna don’t look like 1000+ year olds, so eternal youth seems to be part of the package) is a blessing.

Speaking as one in their late 30s: as one gets older, one finds that most friends will come and go anyway. Only a precious few tend to stick around long-term. Even then there is no guarantee. Be the best person you can, really, and hope they’ll stick around.
 
I speak of one who has already lost friends and family to death. There never is a time when it isn’t heartbreaking to lose someone dear to you. Strangely, the best way of coping is honoring your loved ones by living the life they would have wanted you to live. I don’t think any of the deceased would have been happy to known if I had spent my time alone and suffering. So I live life with joy.
 
After awhile, one realizes it’s senseless to worry too much about the past or the present. It’s good to be mindful of both, but one simply can’t afford to let it wear at you, mortal or not.

That immortality is not always a big deal?

One is more immature than the other. Sadly, it seems that the fanfic written by a 30 year old is the more infantile. And I don’t know why the artist is implying this. Is it because the male stereotype in their thirties are in a midlife crisis? Or what does this imply?
