I added “blowtorch.” (Surprised it was an actual tag.) Though, according to the “Tag Changes” list (which you can view above the comments in a link) it was the image uploader who took off “Welder’s torch.”
I’m just glad we got Sweetie Belle’s instrument of destruction named right, finally. It started out as “flamethrower”, then I changed it to “welder’s torch”. Someone switched it to “blowtorch”, which is what it should’ve been all along.
Mostly in places that have Christian communities. Though few of the recent jewish immigrants from russia (from the 90’s) are celebrating christmess as a coltural holiday.
Nazareth and Jerusalem of course have big events celebrating Christmas, seeing how both cities are tied to Jesus and have big Christian communities in them. (And a lot of truism.)
Outside of the big centers of Christianity in Israel Christmas doesn’t reach the levels it dose in places like America or the U.K though as it is considered a religious holiday and not a cultural one in Israel. Hanukah isn’t reaching the same levels either as it is a relatively minor holiday (though it last for a whole 8 days).
The biggest exception is the city Haifa that every December have a festival called the holiday of holidays which celebrates the peaceful coexistence of Jews and Arabs (both Christian and Muslim) in the city and is called after Hanukah, Christmas and Ramadan (though the Islamic colander is a pure lunar one and the Ramadan only falls on December once every few years.)

This. Freakin’ this. If people who don’t like the grimdark or whatever-the-pony-version-of-misanthropic-is fanworks are supposed to silently accept them as part of the fandom, then people who don’t like religious or cultural fanworks should do the same, rather than make passive-aggressive, self-fulfilling “oh but it could cause drama” arguments.
@ender1200
So it’s more or less like Christmas. Anyone can celebrate it?
Hanukkah themes in the west have much integrated with Christmas context probably due to the similar times the holidays take place. Does anyone celebrate Christmas in Israel?
Sufganiyah, apparently it’s a Jewish version of the Berliner jelly-filled doughnuts.
It’s fanart, dude. And look around you- ponies with lightsabers, driving cars, referencing every corner of pop culture, drinking alcohol, having sex and all manner of stuff that doesn’t happen within the confines of the show. That’s why it’s fan- art. Everyone is allowed to interpret the show in their own way, in their own style and based on their own ideas.
@monus783
Hannukkah is actaully a Historical holiday celebrating a secssefull rebletion against king Antiochus IV Epiphanes and the following purification of the jewish temple and ascent of house hashmonai to rullership.
It’s have religeous themes as the rebeltion was started for religeous reasons but it dose not containt a religeous function unlike other holidays such as passover or yom kippur. Because of that you could say that most jews religeous or otherwhise celeprate it as a coltural holiday.
@Background Pony #5462
would you give it a rest? Sure hannukah makes no sense in the MLP cannon. Pixel just wanted to celebrate the holiday by making pony art (I’m pretty sure she is jewish). Not all fanart need to be consitant with cannon or make sense within the content of the show. You shouldn’t be religeous about this.
Came here for “Silly Belle” (with fire!)
Found drama in thread… Ironically sounds like it is drama surrounding keeping “religion” out of ponies to avoid drama, lol.
