@Phantom Rider
Both are untrue, the daddy long legs spider is Australian, the super deadly venom coming from the fact that they hunt the most venomous known spider in Australia, the red back or “black widow” as it’s known in America.
@D3mon
out of curiosity I looked up the definition of ogre and all it says is a man eating giant in folklore, and “Kyogre is most likely based on the Hebrew legends of Leviathan” which is known to eat people and Leviathan has become their word for whale which is kyogre’s design is based around, and is part of the Hoenn regions folklore. so technically kyogre is an ogre, an ogre of the seas.
@D3mon
just want to ask, on the kyogre thing was it because that was how you pronounced ogre before or assumed the second half was pronounced different because it had the “ky” prefix? and the pachirisu pronounciation you used was the same way I pronounced it until I found out like you did.

There’s also the Harvestman, which is often called a Daddy Long Legs as well. There’s even a myth that this guy has the deadliest venom in the world, when in reality they don’t even have venom glands, and aren’t even spiders.
Though don’t worry. Caddy Long Legs gets her appetite from her pony half. She’d much rather have a hay burger than Shiny, and he’s too cute to eat anyways.
@Phantom Rider
Nope. A daddy longlegs’ fangs are technically as long as the brown recluses, which are known to kill. However, the venom isn’t toxic to humans; unless you’re allergic, the most that will happen is a slight burning sensation at the site that goes away quickly. There’s also the note that entomologists at the University of California, Riverside have noted there are no recorded attacks by a daddy longleg spider and someone needing hospitalization.
The myth of the daddy longleg spider actually got it start because it often preys on much more venomous spiders; for example, the black widow. In reality, the spider is known to incapacitate it’s prey by shooting silk from a distance before biting it.
@D3mon
I’d always heard that the daddy longlegs technically isn’t a spider, and that its poison is very powerful but since its fangs can’t penetrate your skin, don’t sweat it. I never bothered to look it up and see if any of that was true, though.
I can confirm we most certainly have a “Daddy Long Legs” spider in Australia. As a matter of fact, I don’t know any other name for it. It being highly poisonous (at least to humans) is a myth but. Supposedly came around from the fact we’d see them eat Redbacks (Aussie Black Widow) and assumed they must be worse. The myth states their fangs are too small to penetrate our skin which is why nobody died from them.
I also pronounce Cadance as ca-dens (not cay-dins) but that’s because that’s how I say cadence. As a matter of fact Yanks say all kinds of words funny. I remember first hearing Pachirisu (Pah-cher-ee-suu) and Kyogre (ky-O-ger) and thinking it should be pronounced pa-chi-ri-suu and ky-o-gree. One that shits me though is emu. IT’S eem-yuu, NOT ee-moo! IT’S OUR BLOODY ANIMAL I THINK WE KNOW HOW TO PRNOUNCE IT!
