In any case, people who hate the comics shouldn’t get too worked up over canon or continuity or whatever you want to call it. For one thing, the show simply can’t reference Expanded Universe media to any large degree, since they can’t depend on viewers having read the comics, the books, or the trading cards. For another, the comics themselves have given fans the ability to ignore any part of the franchise they don’t like. The Reflections arc established Equestria as part of an apparently infinite multiverse. So you can have a world where the stuff in the comics never happened, one where Twilight never became a princess, one where magical nukes devastated the land, and one where everypony is Batman.

What the hell is wrong with people that they don’t know what the word “canon” means? Pro tip: it’s not “stuff I like and agree with and think should be included”. The show is canon. The comics are canon. Minty inventing Christmas stockings is canon. Applejack falling down a hole and kicking an evil wizard into a lava pit to save blind Ponies by exploding gemstones into their eyeballs is canon. Scootaloo ruining a magic wishmaking festival by opening a box and waking up a star that sounds like a Teletubby is canon. The damn word you’re looking for is CONTINUITY.
 
…Well, no, I suppose that’s not quite accurate, since context makes it clear the word people are really looking for is “IHateThisPartOfTheFranchiseAndWantSomeWayToDevalueItThatDoesn’tJustMakeMeSoundPetulantAndChildish”, and using “canon” incorrectly is just for brevity or something.

Season 1 had a whole episode about Twilight’s problem with assuming that everything she knows about a subject is all there is to know.

Every episode of MLP stars changelings if you believe hard enough.

Whitley wanted a Ferguson analogue for asspats. Don’t think about it too hard. He sure didn’t when he made the inherently and biologically predisposed to greed (without exaggeration or stereotype) species an analogue for black people.

And they clearly know some things about dragons, like their migratory patterns.
 
Yes, according to the show, dragons are too scary to approach. Did you see any ponies living in that dragon town? Did you not comprehend how ignorance of the dragons despite them being neighbors is what led to the conflict in the comic?

Spiked is a rarity (no shipping pun intended) the first time Fluttershy saw him she says that he had never seen a small dragon before.
 
If dragons were so common why Twilight said that the ponies dont know anything about dragons because they are too big and scary?, if dragons where so common then why the veterinary and the doctor on secret of my exxces didnt have any idea wath was goin on with spike? if there was a comunity of dragons living on a city why Spike had to join to the dragon migration tolearn more about dragons? why they said that the dragon migration is an only once in a lifetime event?

Belive me, I have read that piece of crap, the relations betwen dragons and ponies werent friendly on the comic because the ponies belived they started the fires.
