You also have to consider that Nightmare Moon also tried to murder Celestia and did cause major damage to their castle. Of course the penalty would be very large, actual attempted murder is often weighed heavier than unintended or accidental murder. Couple that with her original intention which by itself is catastrophic and the fact that she is more than capable of pulling it off being a princess, then it’s not hard to see why she would receive such a harsh punishment.
Rainbow Dash wanted to spend the winter with Tank, but couldn’t because it was winter. So she tried to stop winter and went to drastic measures by shutting down the factory and, by pure accident, blew it up.
So no, favoritism isn’t technically in place because Luna tried to do something way worse than Rainbow Dash and only her friends would really know that Rainbow actually caused the explosion.
Nightmare Moon attempted to overthrow Celestia, and take full control of Equestria. While also disabling light which in the long run could kill every living being there.
All Rainbow did was blow up a weather factory. I know she did more, but that’s the long and short of it.
When Nightmare Moon tried to cause major catastrophic damage (through never allowing the sun to rise), she got 1000 years on the moon. When Rainbow Dash tried to cause major catastrophic damage by trying to prevent winter from happening, and actually suceeded in blowing up the place where winter is created, likely delaying it in all areas not yet winter-ised, causing a great deal of bits worth of damage that’s sure to hit the economy and possibly injuring/killing so many ponies (for all we know somepony could have been IN the factory at the time), she got… comforted by friends…
I wanna say favourtism, expect that NMM was a bloody princess.
@Background Human
I don’t read the comics, actually that’s not true I have been meaning to catch up as I don’t read the comics often. Can you post a link to this wonderful information?
@Ichijoe
Actually, we were all there. You saw it. From a birds eye view. Not all the graphic detail, but you can STILL see house damage from a high distance. Or at least buried, but they weren’t completely buried. They were covered, but nothing out the normal snow day in Ponyville. The factory is debatable. But again they can fix it pretty quick. Every pony is fine.
If Dash survived, I doubt everyone else below the blast died. Realistically, no one can survive the fall Dash had. Nor being RIGHT IN the middle of the blast. But this is a kids show. So death to main/friendly characters doesn’t happen.
By basic inference, everyone is likely okay, possibly a little bit injured but nothing fatal. Do you think they would be silly enough to have ponies die, even implied? Unless they’re villains of course. But those are villains, so no one cares.
It’s all up to you to determine what happened sure, but I doubt any died. It IS a kids show. If this was ANY OTHER show, THEN I would be on the side of throwing whatever character that did damage in jail because death most certainly could’ve happened in said show. But we KNOW it doesn’t outright happen in this show, especially this episode.
And no, I couldn’t hear the trees fall in the woods because I’m not near the woods. And even if I didn’t, I can know that bears poo in those woods because that’s were they live. They don’t exactly have toilets.
@Mr. Degradation
So you were there or something? Do you hear trees falling over in the Woods too? I also bet you know whether Bears poo in the same Woods too!
Really just, cause the Animators didn’t show such graphic trauma.. Its what a TV7 Show? Doesn’t mean it didn’t, or more to the point couldn’t have happened. I guess its up to the Individual to imagine the possible carnage, and destruction, that Dash had caused.
@Ichijoe
As it is a cartoon show with magical horses, you can bet that Cloudsdale will have that fixed in a matter of days with the power of teamwork.
And did anyone even look at Ponyville? The houses are fine, meaning the snowball didn’t really even do much damage aside from burying ponies, who likely popped out like wack-a-moles. We don’t even really see how bad the place blows up, so likely, I say likely as I’m basing it off the show’s reality, it’s just a few things that need to be fixed. Important things sure, but it’s not like the whole place exploded like a Micheal Bay film.
No one really “saw” Dash actually blow anything up, and they’ll be far too busy fixing things, so it makes sense how she didn’t get in trouble. Logically speaking.
Great now you guys got ME thinking too seriously about this. I guess what I’m trying to say is take a chill pill. No pony got hurt. Everything is literally fine in the next episode. It’s a children’s show. Just have some fun! It’s not real life guys. If it was NO way Rainbow would even be ALIVE after Cloudsdale’s destruction.
@Ichijoe
Considering your recent posts, I think it’s better this way then.
But do you honestly think Equestria is grounded even a little bit in reality? If it was, the ponies wouldn’t talk, magic wouldn’t exist, Twilight would be dead a long time ago due to that piano that landed on her face, and all of the Mane 6 would be jailed.
Basically, I don’t agree with any of this. Especially given that the only ponies that would even have an idea that she did it was her friends. Do you really think that they would toss Rainbow in jail? Somehow, I have high doubts.
I think the only reason she got no punishment was becuse ,no one saw her do it. She was sneaking and when she got out of the snowball it seemed like her friends thougth the ball landed on her,not that she was in it.
So all those people claiming she had no consequence for her actions. It’s becuse no one knew it was her.
@Background Pony #9162
What about the incoming Drought, since Dash wasted all that Water?, or all that flood damage to which ever community just happened to had, been misfortunate enough to have been underneath Cloudsdale at the time. When these alleged events took place?
I guess you don’t care about those Ponies now do you?
@Background Pony #9162
The factory blew up, ponyville got hit by a snownuke then buried under a layer of snow deep enough to bury houses.
No way that didn’t get anyone hurt.
Between factory workers who would have been trying to shut down machinery as the disaster in couldsdale was spinning out of control, most of downtown ponyville being flattened with no warning or time to evacuate the city then buried so anyone who survived their houses collapsing ontop of them then being crushed under tons of snow and smothered as they’d be stuck there for hours until rescue crews could dig them out.
If an avalanche had fallen on downtown ponyville, it would probably have resulted in less fatalities.
@Background Pony #AFA0
no one got killed dude.
ponies are made of dark matter (not literally but they be tough)
and no one got hurt dude. seriously, why you make shit up?
@Joshua
Yeah, people who sabotage government facilities critical to maintaining the environment and get hundreds killed in the process should get off scot free.
@Ichijoe
That should really be the parents job, shouldn’t it? Not some random show meant to entertain an audience? No? TV should be the judge of what a kid should and shouldn’t learn? Oh, okay. That makes perfect sense.
