@Nealend86
If I’m reading a romance, adventure, dark or other stories that includes RD, I’ll read it only if Rainbow Dash is gay (or have 0 interest in romantic staff). And if not, I close it and open something else, bless fandom, there are thousands of fics that 100% fits me.
@Ksardes
And I don’t like it when people try to shoehorn Rainbow Dash into the butch lesbian trope because of superficial reasons.
I try to be very flexible in my shipping. As such, I don’t actually have any OTPs, but I do have a few contingents. One being that if I’m reading a romance story that includes her, I’ll read it only if Rainbow Dash isn’t gay. Don’t really care what she is, but it shows the author is able to be more creative with her then 80% of the fandom. (My other contingent is that I don’t like it when the author ships practically the entirety of the mane 6 with each other. I don’t care how even the shipping is, it’s not even remotely realistic! But that’s getting more off subject.)
SoarinDash has a basis in a few episodes, namely the end of the wedding and her helping him out in the tryouts. Not saying it’s perfect by any means, and the author is going to need to sell it, but the fuel is there.
@Evowizard25
I don’t think they consider him childish per se. I think they’d probably pause for a second before betraying a foal like that.
I think they just consider him a moron.
@Background Pony #7A99
More tot the point, Rainbow Dash is faster and a wing injury, even if it’s healed enough to fly, might very well make him damaged goods in the eyes of his more cutthroat teammates.
@Background Pony #7A99
Soarin’s got a lot of potentate too him. I hope either the show or the fandom just uses it and don’t reduce him to shipping fodder. Like every other male character more or less.
@Evowizard25
Don’t think he sucked as an athlete though. They did choose the top 3 Wonderbolts (this is based off of Sweet and Elite when he won 3rd place and the top 3 were put into Rainbow Falls/Equestria Games.) People do give him crap for doing poorly, but he’s still pretty good, just that Fleet and Spitfire are faster.
@Scrounge
That was pretty obvious. Soarin is an airhead and well….Spitfire and Fleetfoot seemed like ‘really’ motivated ponies. Soarin was in it for fun, they were in it to win it. So, they probably thought he was childish.
@Evowizard25
And there’s at least one where from what I read before just being done, he’s a complete bastard, but I’ll skip the details.
As for his canon portrayal… Is it just me, or does “Rainbow Falls” seem to suggest that Spitfire and Fleetfoot have like zero respect for the poor guy?
