One point of criticism was that having all these characters abuse the sh*t out of a single guy who has no conceivable way to defend himself makes the characters we’re supposed to grow to like at some point come across as bullies and horrible people.
 
And that’s not even addressing the can of worms that is the intense double standard.

And why should they throw him overboard? In a middle of a gunfight you have absolutely no time to do so. And after the fight they realising that he was still alive.

To all the others. Criticize ist good and welcomed, but here i only see stupid winning. Nothing else.

this comic mostly revolves around Spike, so the people who are most likely going to see this are going to be Spike fans. but do to all the Spike abuse most of the people who see this comic are going to hate it, because they are Spike fans.
 
its like we can’t go one comic panel without something bad happening to the poor guy, and most of the time I don’t see the need for it.
 
in fact if it wasn’t for the art style I would have stop checking out this comic along time ago. I keep coming back to this comic and every time I do I leave disappointed.
 
I just wish they would release a fic version of this comic, so I would know if things get better for Spike, or if this Spike abuse is going to be a repeated thing.

Quasi-articulate frothing about how ‘SPIKE GOTTA NUT UP ‘N MOIDERIZE DEM NAGS’ aside, I agree this stretch of meet-the-crazy-crew exposition is laying on its Comedic Dopesmackery Filler(R) a bit thick. Pirates ain’t always polite, but the successful ones can table their salarydrake-kicking impulses long enough to work out What’s in the Suitcase(C). Or at least restrain Revbow (to say nothing of themselves) from venting said impulses for 2-3 pages. Thankfully, pretty sure the espionage/action portion of this strip kicks back in after we get another audience with Cap’n Squiggletail.
 
In the remote case anyone cares, I’ve cracked open a handful of the writer’s FiMfics, and he seems an alumni of the HARD KNOCKS ARE CHARACTER-BUILDING(TM) school. Combine that with manga tropes, and there’s your recipe for Perspective Drake’s prolonged misery. Not sayin’ it couldn’t use a change of pace, mind.

I agree with others that this Spike-abuse crusade is really getting fucking redundant for the story. The only thing even keeping me interested is Pia’s awesome artwork and that’s it.

If you’re going to explode over characters who are well-established to not be very moral acting not very moral in a fictional work, I think I do know better than you with regards to how to act.

I’d settle for a good speech where he tells them, in so many words, why they should stuff it and where they can shove it.

If the next few pages don’t involve Spike giving them a well-deserved beating for the way they’ve treated him, I’ll be sorely disappointed.

I blame anime for this; but let´s give pia-sama the chance, this comic has a slow run because of character development, so there is no logic you can predict the whole plot of the comic.

This whole thing just about parodying Black Lagoon and hitting Spike. And as the story goes on, its like they’re not even looking for reasons to do the 2nd thing anymore. Heck, just drop the plot already and have them all wail on Spike for no reason since that’s obviously what this is all about.
 
I can’t believe Pia’s involved in this. I love her work, and considering how much she loves Sparity, I never thought she’d join in on what is really just a bit excuse for free Spike abuse.
