Also, I should comment on the drama. “If I catch you staring at my barely clothed YAYs, I will torture your YAY with a YAYing hacksaw! Now who’s up for a wet t-shirt contest?”
Spike was daydreaming about them being naked. Applejack (the real, not-naked one) noticed and kicked him for it and it took him a moment to realise it.
>next panel she has boots on
i don’t get it
She only maced him. But to be fair, she felt horrible about it and apologised right away.
That would be just as two-dimensional and stupid as what went on here.
I’m not a fan of it either tbh but I think he is overreacting.
Well, at least Fluttershy and Rarity aren’t as bad as the others.
Take this scene. Based on their personalities, RD should have been the one to curbstomp spike for being a pervert while AJ has a more blase attitude, shrugging off Spike’s perverted thoughts as just “men being men,” though she would also hint that she’ll do much worse to Spike if he tries anything beyond fantasizing.
Sorry. Less babbly version: pirates gonna pirate; Spike’s life right now sucks about as hard as Rock’s did in the first 3 episodes; still might be time to reel back the comedy-stomping for a few pages, but since the plot’s probably moving on soon this issue’s liable to even out anyway. Sidenote for fellow Spike fans: crack open one of the writer’s action-themed fanfics sometime and tell me he doesn’t give every main/secondary character a rough ride.

Pretty sure that trope-link was referring to this comic’s character interactions, not anyone in this thread.
And if I had to tell 100 feminists to grow up, I would.
So its all dismissed by calling it overreacting. Great.
At the same time though, deep down any sane person knows that, comic or not, if the roles were reversed and a woman was being put in a situation like this by a group of men, not only would the amount of rage and complaining would be multiplied by 100, but it would also lack people consistently calling any level of open disapproval as “overreacting”. Mostly in fear of being considered women-hating pigs. Ie part of “the problem”.
But hey, he’s a guy so its funny.
Its one thing to rage for no reason ok, but I fail to see how people expressing their discomfort at a male character getting abused on almost every single panel for no real whatsoever, is “comical overreacting”. Like I said, the opposite would never be allowed, and despite what you might claim, I’m sure in said situation neither you nor anyone else would be diminishing the opinions of those feeling either unsatisfied or insulted by it.

That’s something at least. I honestly can’t see that detail, but I’ll take the creator’s word for it.
She actually kicked him with the heel.
Actually pia-sama said “I just want to clarify, that AJ hit him with the heels, she didn’t use the front part of her boot, the one with spikes over it. I’m sorry if isn’t enough clear, I guess I’m just not enough good yet as to show you exactly what I wanna show you.”
And yet that claim does nothing to invalidate anything I said.
Incidentally, I just now noticed Applejack actually kicked him with a spiked steel-cap boot.
Wow.
You’re becoming a trope yourself, dude. Really.
I’m sick of many tropes, but I rarely rant about them, and never here; this isn’t the place.
It’s not about the characters or the story, it’s about the godamn trope. I see it everywhere and I am sick of it.
Shouldn’t you be used to this by now? Spike has always been the series punching bag.
Think about it this way:
Imagine if it was Applejack daydreaming about Spike’s naked body, only for him to punch her so hard that she falls to the floor.
You sound like a Social Justice Warrior
