People are just likening what they see here with these stallions to some of the more stereotypical features we see when it comes to some gay men, not all, some, women do actually get it the same way, tomboys often get labelled as lesbians, some are, some aren’t, whatever.
 
Stereotypes don’t apply to everyone obviously, there’s no rule for how one should act or should be expected to act, I also don’t think the comments about them being gay are intended to be negative anyway, people seem rather positive and happy with the notion.

I’m just saying that a guy can be as masculine as all get out, but as soon as he slaps on something as minor as some bits of leather, all of a sudden he MUST be gay.
 
<–If you notice my avatar (drawn by a storyboard artist of the show BTW), I designed his eyes with the same eye shape as Rarity, with one small eyelash in the corner. I’d be annoyed if someone called him a gay pony just because of the eyes (not that I have anything against gays, mind). I just don’t like it when female ponies have a monopoly on eyelashes and other extra features exclusive to them, y’know?

So gay men can’t have beards, thick eyebrows or be masculine? As a gay male who is masculine has stubble and thick eyebrows I find your comment disturbing.

Honestly, I feel a tad bit bothered that people are immediately assuming they’re gay just because of the way they look… So what about the manecuts, eyelashes and pinkish colors? I think these stallions are some of the most awesome-looking stallions I’ve ever seen in the show and would like to see more of them like this.
 
Just because they have features that are more commonly found on female ponies doesn’t necessarily make them all that “effeminate” in my book, it just shows the animators aren’t afraid to try new things with stallion design. I mean, for crying out loud, some of them have beard stubble and they all have thick eyebrows; they still look very masculine to me.
 
Why can’t a guy just do whatever he wants without getting the “gay” label? Women are allowed to dress like guys without being called lesbians.

One of those back-up dancers look like Flash Sentry’s dad.
