Hopefully the movie will put him in a sympathetic light or give him a relatable motivation (such as wanting to destroy everything with storms). And then there can be fanart of him being good boyfriend/husband material.
I’m not 100% sure if those are his horns, part of his crown thing. Maybe both?
In order to understand the context, it is important to understand circumstances.
Again, Hasbro is seeing the show as toy advertisement. He didn’t say “seasons”, but instead “years”, because it is obvious that they won’t continue without the show as back-up. There just wasn’t a need to say “seasons”, no need to explain something everyone already knows anyway.
If that is your argument for him not meaning five seasons, then it’s easy enough to override it. It just doesn’t make any sense.
Even if the show ends, spinoffs, video games, comics, continuations will all enough to keep FIM going, heck, I would be surprised if Twilight has a son who is the main character of a whole new series. But something like that would be in 2026.
The real issue is the writing.

Knowing Larson, he’d probably make whole episodes based outta action, horror, or even romance. The guy’s a genius whose figured out that fan service + controversy = high ratings.
We’re lucky to have Larson, he’s a greedy bastard, but he literally sees us as his money, and he loves us just as much he doesn’t do corporate type crap, like McDonald’s or Cartoon Network.
With all the new characters, abilities, and episode genres already here and to come, My Little Pony is turning into the Marvel Universe.
If they had meant “five more seasons” they would’ve said “five more seasons”. They did not. They said “five more years.” Now, I would quite love it if it managed to get to season 9, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it did. But the wording and context is important here. For all we know, we might just get some kind of spin-off series for the 2 remaining years of that “five years” timeframe.

Yes, it means five more seasons after Season 4. Everything else is just blissful thinking from delusional bronies who believe the show is going to suck if it lasts until Season 9 or even beyond that number.
Which is complete nonsense, a show doesn’t start to suck just because of a number, it’s only the imagination of fans who have not enough breath to stick with following one show for so long that makes them think this. That’s just as a sidenote, though…..
Like I already said to bronies like you about a thousand times, Hasbro WILL NOT release any toys without having the show backing them up. Especially not with how wildly successful MLP: FiM is and even more especially not considering that the movie is probably bringing in a ton of new fans, adults and children alike.
Ever wondered why Hasbro waited so long with greenlighting a movie, despite the obvious success the show has? That’s a strategic step, getting more fans on board in order to increase popularity and therefore, getting more opportunity to sell toys and getting the show to live longer.
Like it or not, there will be nine seasons and, with the success the show still has, most likely even more than that.
Hasbro is not doing anything without the show and it won’t let this show end until it has squeezed the last drop of money out of it.
Sigh… Since apparently this still needs to be explained…
When they said “5 more years” of FiM back during season 4, that did NOT necessarily mean “5 more seasons”. It just meant that the specific FiM BRAND would continue for five more years.

Jim Miller confirmed FIM will go up to AT LEAST season 9.
MLP has never been more successful, and both little girls fans AND Bronies are growing heavily in places like Germany and China.
