Makes sense to me. Thanks for the info. Now to see what happens in the feature movie with the Harmony animation, especially since we know Celestia will be in it, but still no official word on Luna and Cadance as well.

Wait, you’re expecting an episode of a tv show to stand on it’s own and not rely on the context of past episodes? What? This isn’t a stand alone movie, it’s a season finale, a season finale shouldn’t have to establish what has already been established in the show numerous times. Either your wording is really bad, or your logic is incoherent, or both, since I can barely even understand what you’re even talking about. Either way your comment makes no sense.

The episode you’ve awarded Most Bone-Idle. I’ve been assuming it’s S06E25-6 considering how often you’ve talked of its shortcomings more than its positives, at the least from my perspective, maybe. Nevertheless, I have been agreeing with the notion it presents more flaws than draws.

It may have dawned on me, in one way, E26 in particular fails to empathize the victims of the changelings, not because they’re already fully characterized within the series as a whole, but because their respective spotlights shine for less than zero screentime within the episode itself.

The episode, even for slightly more briefly than the time it takes to text your mom, should have, as you’ve said, given the three groups a modicum of exposition to help the audience get to know even the basis of their respective characters.

What E26 tried to do was place the rest of the series on its shoulders as a substitute for context. I know not of anypony else, but I don’t entirely feel like watching several hours worth of the relevant episodes before viewing the S06 Finale in order to get an adequate amount of background on the current scenario instead of relaying the necessary information within the episode itself.

They should have showed why the capture of these three groups was a major deal to the well-being of the entire country. Instead, I feel like the job could’ve been performed about as well with twelve slabs of iron.

Actually, I guess while we both agree the S06 Finale was arse, we seem to disagree on the reason, which while similar, our reasons differ somewhat slightly… <w<

I got an award for “Most Bone-Idle”? What the heck is that? Also, it did crack me up when I first read the comment. LOL!

At times, some episodes tend to feel like teasers, resulting in these sorts of discussions, of which could have been non-existent, if the given episode were more succinct in reality. Besides SuperSonic’s award for Most Bone-Idle, other examples in mind include the other most recent finales from S03-5… <3<;

I know, but I still have my reasons why I hated the finale anyway. It wasn’t one of my favorites, but I’m sure there are others that will make up for it.

@CMC Scootaloo
Good advice. Either way, I’m sure Season 7 and the movie will make up for the Season 6 finale, so there’s not much left for me to argue about now.

That is stupid. It is bad writing of information that is vital to understanding the events of an episode goes unexplained or contradicts itself, and ambiguity and lack of explanation do not engage the audience. mystery does engage the audience, but it is not the only way, and mystery comes with the expectation that all questions raised be answered in ways that make sense. You’re shooting yourself in the foot here.

See and this is why I’m saying that most TV shows of nowadays suck completely:

They explain too much.

Good writing is, when the plot explains some things and only hints at others. So that you have to figure it out for yourself. This is called “engaging the audience”.
If a show serves you everything on a silver platter and you don’t have to figure out anything by yourself anymore, THEN you know it’s poor writing.

There was a time all TV shows engaged their audience like this and this only stopped around 2000. I still don’t have an idea how this drop in quality happened, but this is one of the major reasons why I started to love MLP: FiM:

It engages you to think. It is no popcorn entertainment. If you want to understand everything, you have to really get into it and analyze certain things.
Which the fandom is terribly bad at. All the plothole accusations various episodes get could be avoided if people would just do that (or, at listen to people who did and explain why something isn’t a plothole).

We don’t need to know how they got captured for the episode’s plot to make sense, and your favorite characters not having screen time in an episode is not a flaw.

Yeah, but they never explained how they were captured. That’s poor writing.

@CMC Scootaloo
Still, I’m probably one of the Bronies who hated the finale because of how Celestia, Cadance, and Shining Armor had so little screen time, Celestia barely had any dialogue compared to Luna, and other reasons as well. I hope Season 7 and the movie can redeem it.

Why would your favourite characters have to get the long end of the stick for an episode to qualify as good writing?

@SuperSonic15

The way how Chrysalis could do that so easily was implied in the episode. I won’t tell you where and how.
Watch the episode again, it’s not making a secret out of it.

And regardless of if you like what happens to them, or not, things happen as they happen.
There won’t always be glorious times for your favourite characters seen in the show. You should pay more attention to the whole picture.

True, but I don’t like how they are treated sometimes, especially in season finales since Celestia and Luna had a major role in saving the Crystal Empire in the premiere, then they get shafted in the finale with being captured off-screen without any reason as to how it happened.

That makes no sense. How does having less screen time mean characters are treated poorly. Not every character is equal, that’s not how storytelling works.

And since Starlight Glimmer will only have a minor role in the movie, her fans will complain about that as much as some Mane Six fans complained about them having gotten captured during the Season 6 Finale.
You can’t please everyone equally. Characters taking a step back for other characters is a natural thing in a TV show, especially in one with such a big cast.
That your favourite characters didn’t get the spotlight or were taken out by a villain does not constitute an objective flaw of the show.

It is if they get a lack of screen time and dialogue as, compared to The Crystalling, Celestia and the rest of the Royal Family got the short end of the stick in To Where and Back Again.

I hope they get a major role in the movie.

Might just be because of the lightning and that they are using the Harmony animation rather than Flash like in the show.
Harmozel

Oh no they made Celestia’s wings and muzzle smaller :(
Also I noticed her hair seems, duller.
