Explain why Sunset’s post-reformation is so well-received compared to Starlight.

Sunset’s design actually look different, well Starlight’s color scheme is so damn similar to Twilight and Aria, it feels like a redesign/ rip-off.
 
If ONLY EG is an episodic series, they can actually expand upon Sunset’s reformmation or idk bring Sunset into FiM.

Starlight is miles ahead of Sunset as a character in every possible way.  
Consequences? Do you mean the entire school not immediately loving her? Oh yes, that makes her a good character, for sure! Nevermind that when she was defeated, instead of a realistic reformation she was just brainwashed from a bland villain into a bland goody-two-shoes protagonist who is instantly better than Twilight at friendship and never fails at anything or makes mistakes. Starlight actually struggled with unlearning her bad morals and becoming good. That’s a thousand times more important AND entertaining than 5 minutes of high schoolers scowling at Sunset.  
Sunset is a non-character. If you wanna describe Starlight in relation to Sunset, then she’s not a “replacement”, but a Sunset done correctly without wasting the character’s potential this time.
 
And by “maybe” I mean that talking to Celestia is not my only hangup with her, not by a longshot. She has to address other aspects of the old life in Equestria she completely abandoned for no reason, like her parents. She has to actually get some understandable reason to stay in the human world besides “well I made some friends here, guess I’ll just keep attending this high school”. She could finally get a personality. I doubt any of these will happen.

Let face it man..Starlight is Sunset’s replacement in FiM, why the hell both names are so damn similar.
 
We all know Sunset is superior. Who actually has consequences to her actions and not just accepted via one musical number.

Well, maybe this will address some of the hangups I have with Sunset’s character. Prolly still not gonna make her interesting, but that would be a tall order anyway. EqG has had three great movies despite the utterly lackluster protagnist, no reason it can’t do that again, even if the shorts have been trying their hardest to ruin everything that’s ever been good about EqG… And they could always cheat like they did with Mirror Magic and make an otherwise crappy episode good just by bringing Starlight in :D

Hmmm, it’s very possible you are right, but it’s also odd to me A Friendship to Remember wasn’t called an adaptation since the start, and for some time, we thought it will be just a book…

Going to disagree. First off titles change all the time. Return of the Jedi was originally called Revenge of the Jedi up until a few months prior to its release. And two, the script is the first thing that is ever produced for something, cause how can you make something without knowing what’s going to happen in it. So the screenplay was likely written and they had Finn novelize it, which would take far less time than creating animation. They used older designs because they designed the boom cover either not knowing the new girls would get new outfits or not knowing when they would receive them and so didn’t change them to not confused the demographic the book is aimed at

Well, I would say it’s pretty sure that A Friendship To Remember was made as a novelization of Forgotten Friendship, if notfor a few things. First - different titles. I don’t think it happened with other novelisations. And second - the girls in the book, and it’s cover having their old clothes, from before the new Equestria Girls shorts.  

 
I think there is a possibility “A Friendship to Remember” was originally just a companion book writen by Perdita Finn, but people at the writing stuff, or Hasbro, liked it’s story so much, they decided to animate it. (But this would have been decided and book writen around Summer or earlier, hence the old clothes of the Humane 7).

I’m looking forward to this!

Considering how episodes typically take nearly/over a year to create while books can be published in as little as a month.
 
It’s only been like 2 months since A Friendship To Remember so more likely than not it was made as a novelization of Forgotten Friendship.

Well, it depends whenever the special will be based on the book, or “A Friendship to Remember” was based on the script to “Forgotten Friendship”. I mean, Legend of Everfree adaptations by the same writer, was released a month before the movie.
 
If it’s the latter case, the changes wil be probably very minor if any.

You don’t remember Spike saving the Crystal Empire from being crushed? Or Twilight, or other characters fixing things by themselves?  
Heck, you could argue Sunset defeated ||Midnight Sparkle mostly by herself too, || (which I actually liked, don’t get me wrong) but she doesn’t have to be constantly the center of EqG, so I don’t mind Starlight making one measly appearance. (And I kinda liked her humanized design/outfit.)
 
Still, as I said, it would be nice if Sunset could make one Pony cameo at least perhaps to even things out a tiny bit.
