Exactly. It’s also important to take into account where the show and it’s writers is from.
From where I come from, kisses in the cheek are the norm for greeting friends and family — no matter the gender (except dude+dude, we cannot have that). However, if anyone were to kiss like that on MLP or EqG, I’d inmediatly raise eyebrows because in the show — and from what I’ve seen, the country the show is from — that isn’t the norm.
Lyra and Bon Bon have nuzzled and hugged and similar with more frequency than other ponies/humans, even other best friends, right?
That must mean something, then.

But that’s the thing: you are using how girls act around you as examples, you can’t transpose that social norm to the show.
If you only use the parameters we see in the show it’s not as easy to say “just friends”.
I mean girls don’t act the same way everywhere; around where I am female best friends give each other fist bumps, not nuzzles.

I do remember the INTENSE HAND HOLDING and “ I don’t listen to that talk outside of bed” (ACTUAL DIALOGUE)
Since I didn’t grow up with the english dub nor I care too much about it, all I know is that they apparently shoehorned HI THIS IS (HARUKA/MICHIRU) MY COUSIN type dialog every 3 secs and were generally incompetent to tone down their interactions. So we now have Lesbian Incestuous Cousins. Yes.

It’s not hard to maintain that they are only friends. Only for who doesn’t know the girls world or never had a true BFF. They are the closest friends that is possible.

As long as they don’t explicitly kiss in a cartoon meant for little kids prompting a massive backlash from conservative parents everywhere opening the animators to a a tsunami of lawsuits it’s not canon they are together.

Writers and animators are just now getting brave enough to hint strongly enough to make something like a gay or lesbian couple obvious.
To be blunt and kiss or say it outright is paramount to opening a can of worms and enraging every single closed minded prick and anti-gay rights enthusiast on the planet!
A fact you KNOW very well. Which is why you phrased it like you did knowing it will most likely never be bluntly thrown in the audience’s face.
I supposed the next thing you’re going to argue is that Kora and Asami aren’t a couple since they never kissed or said it outright.

You can be best friends with your significant other, you know that right? I mean if you want to be joined at the hip with your best friend it’s your prerogative, but I think that most people would dream about being joined with their love, not just a friend (talking about the catdog thing). When you take everything we have seen about these two it’s pretty hard to maintain that they are only friends. But I would like a true confirmation as well.

They said “bestest friends” which is “BFF” which is “soul sisters” in real life. That is not a hard concept. What’s with Twilight’s BBBFF song? That implies incest? In this fandom probably…
The “couple” thing is the headcanon until Hasbro says that they are “just” best friends… But there is not such thing as just friends when they are best friends. This is what the shippers don’t understand about girly girls.
