If you’re talking about users, they can easily get a moonban fast after the first offense. Rule #0 is enforced everywhere. If you mean in comment sections/forums, then yes they don’t need an account. But you can and should still report it. Period. Reporting is something that needs to be done every time you see it, because mods aren’t machines. They can’t see everything on the site that’s posted. Otherwise, they can keep on doing it without ever getting banned.

Nobody ever said 4chan had nothing to do with the fandom. They just didn’t invent it the way they tell themselves they did.

I’m not going to jump in this debate and fight it off like the rest are doing, but I’d just like to say one thing. Lauren faust visited us over at /mlp/, not reddit, not twitter, not youtube, but /mlp/ because she liked the honesty we gave off. John de lancie has literally being shitposting on /mlp/ before. Saying that 4chan has nothing to do with the fandom is pretty ignorant. A lot of the starter parts of this fandom came from 4chan (which by then already long stopped being the cespool of the internet for the record), that’s all i’ll add do this.

Aryanne is a self-propelled Swastika. That’s all she is. She has no personality outside of the swastika and everything it represents within the context of Nazi Germany. She has no value outside of that. If this were about censorship of porn, I would be behind her all the way. I am not a Nazi fetishist, but I do know that it is a sexual fetish that a lot of people have. It’s not about sex, though. She isn’t exclusively a sex figure. There are more than a few pictures of her glorifying the Nazi party and its actions. It isn’t even parody. It isn’t ironic.

Oh gosh, I had a legitimate autistic obsession phase in 2011 when it came to the fandom’s origin story. Let’s see if I can still dig up some links…
 
On the origins of Bronydom.
 
Take note of the date of the article, and the paragraph where they talk about “The End of the Creator-Driven Era in TV Animation” article (archive link as actual page is dead). I’ve seen a screencap of the /co/ thread myself back on Ponibooru and I’m fairly sure it was close to FiM’s first airing. It was pretty much universally regarded as THE origin by the MLP:FiM fandom at large.
 
Pony Bro “brony” was coined on 4chan. Derpy was named there. “I’m going to Love and Tolerate the Shit out of you” and “Mods are asleep, post ponies!” started as reaction images there. Even Equestria Daily’s Sethisto was getting banned back in the day. /mlp/ wasn’t even a thing back then, and when it was eventually created, people assumed it was some kind of trap.
 
Even FIMFiction was a relative latecomer.
 
Love them, hate them, be indifferent to them, but /b/ and /co/ had a huge effect on what the fandom would become. And their mods absolutely hated us.
 
Thus, the fandom expanded outwards through Equestria Daily, Team Fortress 2 (how I got here), Tumblr blogs (I guess?), Fanfiction.net, Ponibooru and so on.

Oddly enough, I think the first place I saw anything about the show was as a reference in an online comic. Two characters talking about how the “new MLP cartoon” is actually pretty good.

Do you have something to substantiate that?  
Although these days their numbers are few, there are in fact still blogs on Tumblr/Twitter/Facebook/LiveJournal, as well as galleries on Deviantart and personal gallery sites, which go back far enough to show people making fan art and writing fanfic and interacting with other fans– and yes, memeing– about the show in late 2010 and early 2011 completely independent of anything happening on 4chan. Anyone who was around the Somethingawful forums in 2011 also remembers the Pony Av Bandit. The idea that 4chan was the single solitary starting point of the fandom and sole source of its propagation is just ridiculous.
