I’m glad I’m not the only one who recognizes the difference in-between “immortal” and “invincible”.

More like the struggle of the invincible.
 
Immortality is the ability to live forever, so you still can be be dead from the eternal force. Although there are another definition that actually add invincibility in to the definition. But nowadays we use it immortality for someone or something that are have infinite lifespan and ageless.
 
But still if you want to dead, Luna. Here’s a quick solution.

See enough of the scum of humanity, and “cry and beg and seem repentant” becomes not enough.  
Psycho- and sociopaths are very good at playing pretend. People who committed a crime that warrants execution without being psychopaths will earn repentance by submitting to the execution. The innocent shouldn’t even be there, and if they are, justice system failed.
 
Besides, if you want to see actual injustice, consider treating prisoners like slave labor to the point your whole industry will collapse if amount of prisoners in the country falls below certain quota.

Humane execution is better, but still, you’re putting someone to death no matter how much they cry and beg and seem repentant. Seems strange to have no mercy and carry out orders to someone’s death because of invisible concepts like authority and law. What if the prisoner suddenly looked different and thus didn’t match ID? What if their paper work vanished and they didn’t have orders any more? But no, someone said so, and it’s on paper, so suddenly the prisoner has no power and must be ignored and submitted to death by otherwise decent, regular people.
 
Authority is just a giant game of “house” and it’s odd that this game of house can lead people to kill helpless prisoners no matter how much they plead or cry. It’s just weird, surreal.
 
Honestly, though, I’d prefer to be hanged without drop over being lethaly injected, but I’m a bit unusual and biased in that…

Holy crap. How horrifying. I’d like to believe that’s just a fetish story or something. I guess Roman crucifixion could last hours, even days, though, so sitting on your death sentence for so long isn’t impossible. But jeez. How awful. How could people stand to watch that and not intervene? I mean, I know, it’s just disturbing to think humans can be so allowing of each other’s torturous deaths. Can you imagine what that must’ve felt like?

20 minutes is the record for consciousness I’ve heard, from a woman hanged with the knot in the front, meant to be more effective in quickly killing her, but just ended up not being enough to fully choke her so she could partially breath, but it was too hard to breath to continue for long. That was an allegation that ultimately proved to be a news exaggeration, though. The news wrote that, but eyewitness accounts stated she was still within 5 minutes.
 
A proper blood choke takes ten seconds. A strangulation takes a few minutes, tops, for unconsciousness, but typically just a minute or two, tops.
 
A diver can hold their breath longer, only very rarely and if skilled, but in a hanging, the elevated heart rate, panic, usual wriggling and such burn oxygen way faster and cause the deadly co2 buildup way faster.

I’ve read a whole lot about hanging but never seen this. Define “a long time”. Source?
 
Makes some sense, though. Kinda. Hanging pushes the back of the tongue up so it obstructs the air ways. With a tiny bit of force, you can put your thumb at the top of your throat - where your neck attaches to the head, so kind of at the back of the tongue - and push up a little and find you can’t breath.

So it’s not really from squeezing the neck, so I’m not entirely sure how straining the neck would help, but I do know the arteries it obstructs to cause quick passing out are in the neck, so at best you’d just choke, so you’d last a minute, a few minutes if you manage to squeeze a little air, but you’d still definitely be dead in an hour.
 
Maybe it depends on where the noose is constricting?

You can actually survive a hanging for a long time if you tension your muscles – not that Luna is doing it here.
