To be perfectly honest, he does have a point in that the writers DO have a way out if they decide to have the parents turn out to be alive but they’ve just been missing and PRESUMED dead for years. But he’s honestly being very disrespectful.

I told you before, it’s fine if you think they are alive, you just need to have some basis for it for that opinion to be taken seriously. And if you have no basis for it other than there is no absolute proof that they are dead, then that’s fine as well, but don’t expect to win any arguments based on that alone, or for people to take it too seriously.

This is a cartoon. It is meant to be an escape from all of the bad things in life. Making two good people like AJ’s parents pass away would be far too morbid. It is dumb and pointless drama.

And why not? Parents and guardian figures on their own often struggle to convey the concept of death to a young child, and pretending that it doesn’t exist is only going to be more damaging for everyone in the long run. I’m not expecting MLP to provide a perfect portrayal of death and the grieving process of course, but they should be able to at least acknowledge that such a fact of life exists.

It’s less that we want them dead and more that we want a satisfiying and meaningful explanation for their absence all these years (and for all the hints about their fate that have been dropped in the show).

All I was saying that there is more of an argument that they are dead, based on what the show has said. I never said there is definitive proof that they are dead or alive.
