If AJ found a message in a bottle or something from her parents that says they are trapped somewhere, then yes, the theory would be acceptable. The fact of the matter is, she hasn’t. So there is still no proof.

As he said, that’s not proof, that just a theory, and a baseless one at that. A theory needs proof to be solid.
 
If the show mentioned that they are probably stranded somewhere, then that theory would be solid. But it doesn’t, unless you can point to somewhere in the show that says they are stranded somewhere.

And there’s the problem. You’re way overblowing this if you think their deaths can cause the quality of the entire show to decline. How can you tell a story of loss and acceptance with characters whom you wouldn’t care if they died to begin with? Let’s not bring Starlight in; this thread is already off topic enough as it is.

Yes, it would ruin the show for me if they were dead. 2 adorable parents don’t deserve to die while someone like Chrysalis or Discord or even Starlight live.

If you want to believe that Bright Mac and Pear Butter are still alive, I won’t stop you. The issue here, though, is your attitude towards the prospect that they are dead. Just because they might possibly be deceased (which again has been heavily implied throughout the series) doesn’t mean the entire show is now ruined or devoid of all happiness.

And those who assumed they were dead were just like you. No evidence to base it on. There was no evidence that said they were alive either, but the arguments were equal.
 
If this were the beginning of the series and absolutely nothing was said about AJ’s parents at that point, then the opinion that they are alive would be more acceptable.
 
The thing is though, as the series went on, what was said of AJ’s parents implies that they died, which is why there is an argument for it. Again, none that I know of that says they are alive.

Remember some people thought Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash parents were dead, but they eventually showed up? Same here, in the future they will eventually find AJ’s parents.

My argument was never that they are dead for sure, just that there is more evidence that says that they are. The problem is that you’re basing your opinion on no evidence.

Let’s look at Ash Ketchum’s dad. It’s the same thing. Everyone generally assumes that he is alive, because what little was said of him implies that he is. That being Ash’s mom talking about him in the present tense. There is no evidence to say that he is dead.
 
AJ’s parents are the the same. The little that is said of them implies that they are dead. That being they are mostly talked about in the past tense plus the shooting stars in that earlier episode. There is no evidence that implies that they are still alive that I know of, and you should point to me any evidence that says that so I can accept your opinion.
 
“Because it’s too sad”, “good people shouldn’t die”, “it’s a kid’s show”, and “Arnold’s parents ended up alive” are not evidence.

But that’s reality, though. Just being a “good” person alone does not give you immunity to death. I think it’s healthier for MLP to address things like this rather than pretend they don’t exist.
