No, everyone paying any attention at all knows. In the same way we knew Cozy Glow would be evil, that there’d be a School of Friendship, and that Spike would get wings before there was any official announcement. You’re in denial and it’s time to move past that stage and get to acceptance. It’ll be a lot easier to accept when there’s still a whole season left to look forward to, so do it now.

All that’s left to hope for is that Season 9 is the best season ever and that the show wraps up well. Maybe there’s a chance that the IDW comics will continue. Or perhaps we’ll get a reunion show one day. Who knows? All we know for sure is that Season 9 is the last season of the show and there’s nothing we can do about it.

I only accept official sources.  
Until then it is the 9th season, not the final one.  
And hopefully it won´t be.

I do admit that plans do change. Even announced things don’t necessarily happen. Like when Disney announced a new theater for Disney World last year but later cancelled it.
 
But that is what is/was planned and unless we hear otherwise, we treat this as if it’s the final season. Like video game release dates are treated as fact until they get delayed.
