Flash is dead. Not that many people still use it and they will have no choice when 2020 comes and support for Flash officially ends.

G5 is supposed to use ToonBloom though instead of Flash. It might be too much work to switch everything over to ToonBloom for a season 10.

That doesn´t mean that the new series has to come out in 2020.  
For example it could take much more time than expected so they give us more G4.

The difference is that when season 3 was planned as the last season they weren’t working on another series. In order for them to extend FiM past season 9 they would have to put all work on G5 on hold (there wasn’t much when the leak happened but by now there has to be a lot of work done on G5).

There are plenty of stories to tell so it would make sense to continue (at least for a few seasons)

Let’s also not forget the fact that Hasbro officially planned for season 3 to be the last season back in 2013. But the series went on beyond season 3 due to massive fan support. Who said that the same can’t happen again?
 
As long as the fans support the show and it’s still profitable for Hasbro, they won’t care how long the show will run.

Dang, reading these comment sections ever since the hack leaks last year to now is like being in a warzone lol.  
But anyway in my opinion, I’m just going to take it with a grain of salt until something comes up next year.

This reminds me of this guy on a message board that kept denying that Nintendo would release Pokémon Crystal on the Virtual Console even though dataminers had found evidence for it (and for Pokémon Gold & Silver too before those were officially announced).
 
Finally after months of denying it, when Nintendo announced it he got pissed off and would constantly rant about how “greedy” Nintendo was and that he bought Gold with the idea that Crystal would never be released.
 
And he was arguing about this even before Pokémon Gold & Silver were released on the Virtual Console.
