I mean her Derp expression, clumsiness, happy attitude towards everything and the muffins are all from the fandom as she had no personality or spoken lines before hand, she wasn’t even a background easter egg in the early seasons until the fandom took off with her.

Shippings like Sweetie Belle and Button is always going to happen. According to fandoms nowadays (and not just the brony fandom), if a male and female are next to each other and develop a friendship for that episode, then the fandom will immediately dubbed them as a couple. There’s no escape to it.
 
Male and male/Female and female are even more common than that it seems.

I wouldn’t say Flash Sentry sucks just for hatred’s sake. I say he sucks because the writers wants us to believe that he should be Twilight’s love interest since it feels very forced and unnecessary. Flash has personality, but it feels so forced. It’s like forcing a triangle block into a circle block regardless of not fitting. Flash doesn’t show nor give us a reason why he’s falling in love with her.
 
With the exception of the 100th episode special, none of the character’s personality has changed due to the fandom, but at the same time, they don’t make them a major character like Flash Sentry who just appeared for the first time. They’re background characters. I’m certain if the April Fool’s joke about Pinkie Pie having a boyfriend became a reality, we would be bitching too whether he was well written or not. The fandom isn’t going to bitch about Pinkie’s boyfriend due to his abilities or just simply being Pinkie Pie with a penis, but more like we know nothing about him and we’re suppose to support him. That’s how we all felt with Flash and Twilight.

That has to be the most backwards-ass thinking I’ve ever heard.

If that fact that he has “no personality” as you narrow-minded Flash-haters put it, let me spell something out for you:
We come from a fandom where we can take a character that sits differently and make her into a human obsessed nut, a character with an animation error on her eyes and make her into a muffin obsessed ditz, a DJ that had less than two seconds of screentime and make her a party animal that’s dating that one mare from the gala episode, or that one gaming colt that had a two second cameo and make him Sweetie Belle’s love interest.
And yet when one character pops up and ends up being the object of the main character’s affections he suddenly “bland” and the bane of the fandom’s existence?! The fact that no one even tries to give him a personality like we’ve done with every other background character in the series is what pisses me off.
Flash-hate is pointless, hypocritical, and just plain STUPID.

I also mean that it moves too quickly compared to Flash’s romance with Princess Twilight. It just feels slightly wrong story-structure-wise to me. (& realistic doesn’t necessarily mean good.)

Honestly, I think the movie would have been better if they lessened the romance. Not even remove it, (though doing that would still work out better in my opinion).  
(I feel like everything but the romance worked well enough to be at minimum passable.)
 
Sometimes, if I’m remembering correctly, I felt like the scenes would’ve worked better if they ignored the crush thing that was happening. The biggest misstep, I think, was having Twilight blush when she first saw Timber. The almost-kiss was way too much too, I feel. I honestly feel like Flash Sentry as presented in the first movie did a better job at being a love interest, (not as a character as a whole; as a love interest in particular) & Flash wasn’t even that great at that.
 
Also, how many days have these two known each other? I kind of feel like it was 3 or less. Maybe a week tops. I just think that the romance progressed way too fast, and not in a way that seems like it was intended to be that kind of romance either…
