Man that almost kiss was definitely too much… if anything they definitely shouldn’t have made the romance more suggested than the stuff with Flash. Something the third movie did right was not putting emphasis on much if any romance.
Though a “reconciliation” between Flash & Sunset happening later seems possible to me. Whatever that means. Especially since Sunset Shimmer can read minds now… all she’d need to do is give him a high five or something…
These two only knew each other for barely a day and already they’re more intimate than Flash is with Equestria Twilight. The latter weren’t so close enough that they’d inch to kissing each other, unlike Spruce and Sparkle here.
Sunset’s “reconciliation” with Flash was also denied in this movie.
@Bloody_rain
Yeah, he did have better scenes with his sister. I wish there was more of that. (& don’t forget that dhX holds some of the blame for dropping the ball too. To be fair.)
I feel like this is the only movie where the unneeded romantic subplot actually bogs down the quality of the movie…
Unfortunately, pretty much this. So many scenes were focused on the two of them flirting – more than Flash ever got with Princess Twilight, I think – and yet they somehow managed to serve no purpose to the main story. Personally, I was much more interested in Timber’s relationship with Gloriosa. Why not spend more time on that, when it’s so much more relevant and important to the plot?
What an unfortunate waste. You silly, silly people at Hasbro.
@Ledvi
It’s annoying too since I’d find Timber Spruce completely fine to have around as a character if he wasn’t a love interest.
Honestly I think he’d work at least passably as a character if it wasn’t for the romance thing. I also was really confused as to why Twilight Sparkle immediately blushed the first time she even saw him. They didn’t have to put that detail, even if they had to put in the romance; heck, even if they had to put the romance in rushedly, that happened way too fast.
I feel like this is the only movie where the unneeded romantic subplot actually bogs down the quality of the movie…
@OneOverTwo
Yeah I’m not gonna lie, but I don’t feel their relationship is built up that well. I mean its nowhere similar to Flash Sentry, but it’s not giving us enough reason why we should give a damn about these two. Here I was hoping they would have a real relationship, but then I forgot its Equestria Girls, where the impossible becomes possible through bullshit ex machina.
