Just to the correct that one little point… the French version of the Bill of Rights was drafted by Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, Thomas then returned home and help James Madison draft the Bill of Rights a month later. So maybe France had theirs published first, but it was hardly invented by them, that was actually Thomas Jefferson and Lafayette. Though since both men were technically European,you aren’t entirely wrong either.

I have to disagree. The number may not be substantial, but there have absolutely been people on this site espousing those kind of views with complete sincerity. Pretending otherwise is both misleading and disingenuous.

More than that, in the US, freedom of speech protects people from having to associate themselves with positions and ideologies they do not support. If your neighbor wanted to raise a confederate flag on your property, for example, it is neither censorship nor a violation of his rights for you to refuse. And that rule applies to privately owned sites like this one as well.
 
That doesn’t mean there can’t be debate or discussion about it, of course. It is entirely permissible to argue with the site owners and managers about the rules, and it is certainly in the best interests of said site owners and managers to take the comments from users to heart and make ones that work for the most people involved. But at the end of the day, what you are permitted to put on the site for others to see is entirely up to whomever it belongs to, and if they reach a point where they want to disassociate from, say, the symbol of an ideology responsible for some of the greatest horrors mankind has perpetrated in modern history, that’s their right and freedom to do.

Except it never did start to close. Seriously, the most they did here was put up the equivalent of a “no shirt no shoes no service sign” and people acted like they’d fenced the place off with razor wire and started conducting body cavity searches.

There were never nazis in the fandom.  
Literally NEVER.  
Even when moot combined /mlp/ and /pol/ into /mlpol/ as a “joke”, this didn’t do ANYTHING to fandom.  
Even people who like mlpol made their own site and hardly even go anywhere else.
 
Oh and BTW you are not to decide who can use this site, ok?

I never understood people who dislike filters.  
You know that this site filters things by default and you have to use “everything” filter to see everything?  

 
If you encounterd said picture then either inform the staff or tag it yourself.  
Tagging is a community effort!

The only “legit” limitation is anthro foalcon, and even then it is because of the law.  

 
Entire point of this “drama” is that some people refuse to use filters and wishes to control what can be posted in this site.  
So yes, caving in to pro-censorship side demands WILL affect the content.

I don’t really like the “filters are a solution to everything” mentality that is often found here. Not all pictures are tagged properly, and generally there should be some limitations as to what can be posted and what can’t. And as long as these limitations don’t affect the content that I suppose is the most important to most users here, by which I mean pictures of ponies and other MLP characters at various levels of the SFW - NSFW scale, I’m OK with it.

Nah, it was really the black lives matter mouth pieces that started us down the path. They got downvoted to hell and derpi staff didn’t like it. Shadow banned people from being able to see the pictures if you downvoted the images with that tag too much. People even got banned for it from what I understand.

I agree that mixing pones with politics is a bad idea but I disagree with banning anything. We have filters for a reason.

As someone with no dog in this fight, I’m just going to throw my head back and cackle if THAT one art ruined everything. I just saw it, oof-laughed at obviously dark and offensive humor, moved on, never knew if it caused trouble.
