Now, yeah. I used to watch Digibrony…Well, until he became quite cynical. Kind of put me off. (A lot of reviewers that I followed were quite mean to season 4. Sometimes it was justified, but most of the time…ugh.)
Also, the S4 finale was, in my opinion, the best two parter the show has had so far.
The fight scene was great. (Do I hear people bashing the other fight scenes that this series has had? Not really, don’t see why this is any different.) Everything was splendid and nothing was rushed.
To me, the only problem was that Celestia didn’t really account for Discord knowing Twilight was a princess (as well as a majority of Equestria) or the stain glass window…but seeing how Tirek was going to find out anyways, those are just nitpics.

No,then again I never watched his reviews back then(wasn’t a part of the fandom back then),but even I’m still shocked at how nit-picky he got.
Remember when Digi was really, really positive? Those were the days. He made me appreciate the show in a way I never though possible with My Little Pony, and then he became a cynical killjoy.
@K_A
The lessened critical feedback could be because those more diehard fans either stopped caring so much or even just got off the ride entirely because of the bombshells that were Twilicorn and Equestria Girls being dropped in the bloody February/March tirade of 2013.
It makes sense since traffic numbers on most major fandom websites were all down by considerable amounts for season 4 when compared to season 3, and the trend shows that the numbers will never be as high as they were during and after season 2.
@twistedmetalero
Digi just has this fetish for smoking and tired looking eyes. He admitted it himself. For a time as a joke his pony OC just looked an absolute wreck; messy hair, bags under his eyes, cigarette in maw. His fans were like Oh God what’s happened to you?!
Based on what I’m reading about this alleged cynicism, I don’t blame him. I’m a lot more critical of the show as a whole because of how bad some episodes were this season and because of ongoing writing trends that seem to lean more toward shallow appeal.
The finale was excellent, but I’m not totally sold on the change of setting. I’m surprised people took it so well, honestly. I’ll give them credit on refreshing the status quo, but I feel it interferes with the show’s roots somewhat. We not only have a castle in place of the library but a council chamber for the Mane 6 to meet now, and it is complete with a holographic map showcased in the SDCC demo reel. I get the idea is expanding the setting, but this suggest what could become a formulaic setup, like, say, the Mane 6 running around solving Pressing Friendship Problems.
On the other hand, this could be building up into something very different and very big. However, there is still character development possible for the Mane 6 and supporting cast, and I don’t want it to lose too much focus, especially with last season’s oddball agenda of portraying Fluttershy and occasionally Twilight as flawless at the expense of outright flanderizing other characters.
