Didn’t want to make the first post too long, so here comes part 2: The moment Sunset brought her book with her, the stable magical connection was made. Utilizing it was what allowed travel whenever. Before than the time flow only synchronized once every 30 moons and only for a few days.

That doesn’t seem to work, since there’s no indication that more time had passed in one world than the other between movies (when there was no connection)

Headcanon: Going by that time flowing differently thing, I’d say that it’s only every 30 moons (or when a stable 2-way magical connection is made) that things stabilize enough for the traveler to stay in the present. Reminds me of how the precipice world works in the anime Bleach.

I know, that’s why I specified the one showing how she came to the human world. Because that part, the part she wrote, was good. The rest, after she was already there, written by anderson, was shit.  
I hated his stuff before I knew he was a shitty person, and before I even paid attention to who wrote what. It wasn’t until after I learned more about him that I went back and found he wrote almost all the issues I couldn’t stand. The only one he did that was tolerable was the Celestia/Spike FF.

He’s not a talented anything. He’s a talentLESS hack. I’ve never loved, or even LIKED, his work, because it was always terrible. Even when his work wasn’t offensively bad like the EqG stuff or the CMC micro, it was sloppy and boring. The only thing about the comics I used to like was the Katie Cook stuff, because even at her worst, she was still readable. Though I haven’t read anything for the past few months, mostly because they keep giving that idiotic shit money to ‘write’ stories worse than a 6-year-old could.

First of all, that CMC book… Imp was ANYTHING but dangerous, it was an infant creature that just like the Crusaders also needed to find his shape. In fact, when he’s first compared to a changeling, Twilight debunkers that and explains that mimickers aren’t evil or threatening like them.  
Babs being as old (or older) than Applejack? Haven’t you heard of “Different dimensions, different situations”? It wasn’t something bad if you consider Humanland and Equestria’s timeframe is different (one year in human world might be equal two or three in Equestria, Judging by how Sunset arrived two or three years before EqG, yet by the time she crossed dimensions Twilight was still a fill)  
Babs being older and a bully was just an example of how despite being similar, there are still differences between the Human Dimension and the Pony Dimension. Not to mention it works as a “What if Babs was never reformed and cemented herself as a bully?”  
He’s not a talented hack. If he was the comics could have sucked from LONG Ago. Just because it’s hip to hate him because of his bad work and his wrong mindset means that EVERYTHING he’s done in the past is bad… Even if before that you used to love it.

You mean…. Pffft… Katie Cook? (Not that I didn’t like that comic. I did… But only because it was just a recreation of what we already knew about her. BUT if you mean rhe rest of the Annual… SURPRISE SURPRISE! TED “BAD WRITER” ANDERSON WROTE THAT ONE!  
Oh, don’t forget how ATROCIOUS was that Micro where Pinkie tries to make one of his retiring inspirations smile again and find a way to keep doing what he enjoyed the most, it was Written by Ted too.  
tl;dr Ted is (ok, being fair… Was) a really talented writer. It was after the whole SJW fiasco that the fandom bigoted him, and from there it was all downhill with his work, the Holiday Special was the nail in the coffin.

He is literally the worst ‘writer’ I’ve ever seen. To the point I don’t feel comfortable using the word to describe him. He gives no thought to continuity and has characters act wildly out of character. Not to mention his ‘work’ is boring at best, agonizing at worst.  
I mean, for fucks sake, his CMC book made no sense. Twilight would never just let 3 children run off with an unknown, potentially dangerous creature. The first EqG comic made Babs Seed OLDER than AJ, while the second, for various reasons, couldn’t take place before OR after the second movie. He’s a talentless hack who only has a job because he’s friends with his boss.

Agreed. I never bought that they’d stayed a thousand years in the human world. And yet some folks apparently believe “99% of all fans accepted this headcanon”. I really doubt the comics could’ve told that theory in a satisfactory way.

The only really good comic was the first Sunset Shimmer one. The one showing how she came to the human world. You know, they only Equestria Girls comic written by a TALENTED writer rather than anderson.

To me, the idea that the Sirens have been hanging around in the human world for over a thousand years always seemed a bit iffy. They didn’t come across as beings with a thousand years of experience under their belts, nor did they treat situation as one they’d been stuck in for such an extensive period of time. It was more natural for me to assume that traveling through the portal involved some form of time trickery, be it time dilation or – as its presented here – time jumping.

same thing happens before the events of rainbow rocks, i guess. they can only get emotions as needed to feed, not enough to do something more than that.

Ok this is going to sound pretty silly, but what if Starswirl didn’t send them 1,000 (or less if time moves slower in that dimension) years into the future? What if there was literally no technical progress in this dimension of strongly colored humans who put funny symbols on their cloths?

Hey, a world without magic ain’t so bad.

I can understand that but there are quite a few good ones, a lot of meh ones, and then you have some absolutely horrible ones like this and the Sunset Shimmer comic.  
The quality bounces all over the place really.

And that’s why I don’t read the comics.

worse is that there was just so much potential for it. they could have had the sirens at the center of some major issue.
 
and i know there are some rather questionable decisions and a few outright bad idw comics for mlp. but this one is easily the worst for me. i cannot even defend it by terms of it just being badly executed. it was ded on arrival when they decided to ignore the fact of their sea pony dragonessness and just made them like their selves in rainbow rocks without chemistry or personality.  
and it worked in that one because they were infinitely more limited in what they could do.

It boggles my mind that people are actually defending this comic at all, regardless of your opinion on Anderson or IDW this was just poorly made comic.
 
The art was just plain bad, the sirens had no personalities or chemistry at all compared to the show, Star Swirls character was boring and kind of an idiot (he never once tried to involve the princesses or even try talking to the sirens, it was “oh shit, I sense magic, gotta fuck these faggots up” and then he felt bad that he couldn’t convince them to use their powers for good, despite not trying to ask them), why is Canterlot based on a Roman city when it’s canon that Pegasus culture is based on Rome? Why didn’t the sirens spell effect Star Swirl, I’m not saying it can’t happen but I’d like an explanation as to why it can’t happen.  
And of course the nail in the coffin was that massive plot hole both you and me pointed out.
 
It just seems like there was almost no actual effort or thought put into the comic, they quickly wrote a first draft and just went with it instead of trying to iron out the finer details.

out of all the times i try to defend the comic, i gotta agree here. this is just wasted effort.
 
hell i could have at least gone along with it if he used his FIRST mirror. for sake of continuity and of a more unstable magical portal to use, especially if he did not perfect it enough till later in his life.

and i am a guy who usually likes the idea of the comics and the show being together. i am the guy who usually argues with those guys who go way out of line with the hate. but this…… just wasted effort.
