And yet it is by her actions that those doorways exist in the first place, her entire motivation for the finale is to intentionally create an alternate future where twilight does not have her friends. She only regretted her actions once she saw the full consequences of them, before that she was perfectly happy to continually create new ones. Regardless the episode only makes it clear that such changes do have consequences, it never specifies whether those timelines ceased existing, continue to do so, or only started to exist because of what she does.

Starlight isn’t more ‘responsible, than she is creating doorways to alternate worlds. Every action we partake creates several different possibilities and worlds just by either waving or taking a smaller step. So Starlight isn’t ‘creating’ the worlds, more so that she’s creating a stable link to an already existing parallel reality.

For me, what broke the whole redemption thing wasn’t the character’s actions themselves, like many have already pointed out the show has shown us even the good guys are capable of brainwashing, vindictive/sociopathic behavior, and uncontrolled destruction. No, what ruined it is the unspoken implication of Starlights actions. Consider for a moment that time travel stories in general are muddled and confusing at best, and by the shows own admittance every action taken to change the past has consequences. So what if those consequences remain? What if twilight didn’t actually fix anything in her own timeline but just separate all those various possible futures into their own existence. That would mean that regardless of her actual motives Starlight is potentially responsible for the death and suffering of millions if not billions and has done more damage than any other villain we’ve seen on this show thus far. And to be honest her justifications are extremely weak, from the way she was speaking to twilight I thought she might have had a traumatic experience of some sort, until it turned out to have just been a case of her friend moving on in his life without her. The forgiveness I expect, but the utter sugarcoating of it made me more disgusted than anything else, and I couldn’t even describe why.
 
 
Of course there’s no evidence to support any of this being true, for all I know the spell just erased those timelines from existence (which is also horrifying to think about) in order to restore the original one, but at the end of the day I’m just sick of starlight and hope the show moves on from her.

anyway, that whole list is ridiculous. Assault? Mane6 did it. Destruction? Brainwashing? Messing with time? You bet. Whole episodes happened where they did those for no reason and without consequence.  
Except…You know…Maybe it’s a fairy tale show where such things are part of the setting and aren’t treated as wowsohorrible stuff?  
The way you try to make a court case out of it and ignore half the episode sp that you can fabricate SL’s motivations to fit your headcanon is just painful to watch.

Discord is repeatedly forgiven, and it keeps blowing up in the ponies’ faces every time a chance comes up for him to start shit.
 
Starlight has shown she’s not above assault, kidnapping, brainwashing, and even fucking with the fabric of reality to get what she wants. Only a fool forgives such things at the first sign of crocodile tears.

I like how everyone forgets how Discord was instantly forgiven for CONSCIOUSLY giving the entire world over to Tirek on a silver platter. Ponies didn’t even give him a cold shoulder after that.
 
And if you compare Sunset to Starlight… Sunset was right there with everyone, tormenting them for years, and they all just witnessed her literally turning into a demon, zombifying everyone and trying to kill six people (and a dog?). ALL she got is rude stares during school hours. And even that happened in the NEXT movie, not the one that finished with her quick “reformation” (at the end of EqG the humane six’s smiling at her immediately).
 
The mane6’s encounter with Starlight was brief, relatively danger-free (physical at least) and ended long ago. Even after Twilight explained everything to them, it’s still much harder to hate someone for something that you didn’t see them do and that affected you in no real way. Heck, even in the premiere in the end Twilight says she hopes Starlight can see the truth, already it’s shown they don’t really hate her.
 
I find the complaints about her forgiveness being undeservedly easy ridiculous considering the entire history of this show.

POST EQ1. POST! The Cutie Re-Mark was Starlight’s EQ1, we haven’t seen her Rainbow Rocks yet, or rather, her season 6 development yet. You are being absolutely ridiculous because you are literally comparing a full reformation and development that happened over 3 movies and a couple of shorts to the beginning of a reformation shown for a few seconds the same way the first movie did.
