Well, he didn't make Dr. Mario, which might be why. As much as I love Miyamoto, he doesn't seem to regard the Mario games he didn't make himself much. (Except the Kart & SSB series.) In fact he didn't make the "Super Mario Land" games either, which is why features, areas, and characters/enemies from them never appear in the main action Mario games. (Even though SMG would've been the perfect opportunity to bring back Tatanga.)
 
Aside from Wario & Daisy appearing in the sports/kart/party games, but they've never appeared in any main action or RPG games.
