Some police cars caught on fire and one of the protests on the Champs-Elysees went bad with some storefronts smashed up (one of them being the Fouquet's, the restaurant where Nicolas Sarkozy famously celebrated his electoral victory back in '07) and the Arc de Triomphe defaced.
On the other side, several protesters got gravely injured (with some loss of limb in the worst cases) by the rubber bullets and blast balls shot by riot control squads.
