Yes, I suppose they have. But I always thought there weren’t as many of them, at least from what I witnesed myself. That’s my life experience, which is why I interpret it that way.
If I move to Canada and live there, I’d be able to educate myself better about them.

I really don’t get how prefering one character to be a certain race is considered racist.

Ahat’s what I’m talking about: everyone has their own imagiation, because those ponies never had a race to begin with, they aren’t even human.
If you ask me, I’d prefer humanized ponies to keep their colors from the show, because that’s basically their colors, which make them unique and recognizable!
But if I am forced to apply human races to them, then I’d go with my headcanon and imagination. For example, I always saw Zecora as a pretty black woman, while I saw some other ponies to be other skin colors, etc.
