What would you have had them do? Have Fluttershy turn into Eddy, just constantly rambling about an unseen sibling that we've never seen and with no connection to the actual plot of the episode, on the off chance that they'd actually put that sibling into an episode some day?
Give me one single scene, from any one episode in the past 5 seasons, where it would have made any kind of sense for Fluttershy to just randomly point out that she has a brother.
