I know in situations like this the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center would issue a PDS watch. PDS is short for Particularly Dangerous Situation, where the probability of tornadoes is maxed out. Scenes like this not only remind me of the two twisters that hit Moore, Oklahoma, but also the tornadoes that hit Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, Alabama in 2011, Yazoo City, Mississippi in 2010 and Greensburg, Kansas in 2007.
