Since I didn't remember the episode you mentioned off-hand (it's been awhile since I ran through the entirety of TOS) I didn't mentioned it. But I know it wasn't TNG since that episode was a sending-off one and he certainly didn't die and get resurrected in it. Maybe I should've made that point clearer.
